Glad she was able to hang around and milk the system for such a long time.
Are there really cotton fields in Holland?

Wow...I cannot believe that someone would just take the time to post something so darn rude! Did you even read the article?? Or are you just ignorant! The article said this sweet CHRISTIAN woman moved north to avoid Racism! But I guess she didn't really...thanks to people like you! I am not sure what you mean by "milk the system" anyway....I don't even know where you get that from?! I only hope someday you realize how racist your comment really is. God Bless that dear woman...and all the lives she must have touched. Rest in Peace.

How in the world can you come to the conclusion that she was milking the system????!!!! Just because she was in a nursing home doesn't mean taxpayers were paying for it. She outlived two husbands.

Now to answer your other concern. According to another news source:

"Born around 1897, Nellie was the daughter of a sharecropper in southern Mississippi. Mrs. Jones has tales of picking cotton until her hands bled."

For your information "SMARTY PANTS" the proper word is bilk. You milk a cow. What do you plan on doing when your time comes? I hope you don't plan on bilking the system. Our children can't afford that.

Holy Cow, If she had, had children, she would have out lived them. What a wonderful thing that she lived so long. See what happens when you put yourself in the hands of the Lord and you take care of yourself. God Bless You.

She's gone. Let's not keep the negative comments going. Whatever you think of her or people like her, not much will change anyhow. Take a look at where things are today.

Possibly pure ignorance or an failed attempt at humor, I would assume both. We all have times we appear to fit into one of these categories, However, try not to do both at the same time. Just an opinion of course....

The stories a person can tell are very interesting, my wife's grandmother lived 100.5 years and had a million stories to tell, all very interesting.

Nellie Jones had many I am sure...!

I think it is great if anyone can live that long. I had a great aunt who lived to be a 102, think of all the changes that a person of that age has seen over their life. Oh by the way my great aunt never had any children either, do you think that could have helped them live so long ? I have five, I guess I will find out eventually.
