Even better voodoo practicianers - with little dolls looking like certain folks! Start with a little prayer group, pretty soon everyone wants freedom of speech and religion and expression! where will it end? Liberty? Non-establishment? Time to catch up with the Founding Fathers 2000= years ago, when they added a Bill of Rights to the Constitution, just in case later generations forgot what rights individuals were supposed to have! They knew what they were doing. It was no accident. the early experience of some of the colonies with established religions, had numerous problems - including different religions established in different places, encouraging persecution, taxing non-believers in the predominant church to pay their preachers, etc.

Students exactly have a right to start a Satanist group if they so choose.

Our schools have been having budget cuts for some time now but needless to say it will only get worse when the school board loses this case. Our superintendent doesn't give a damn about anything but his sick, twisted "morals."

Actually, there is no threat necessary. Under the Federal Equal Access Act, which the religious right lobbied for years ago, if the school allows any clubs it must allow ALL clubs. Likewise, if they ban one club, they must ban all clubs including sports. The fundies fought for EAA in order to be allowed to form bible study clubs. They won! Now they are ignoring the law in order to ban GSA's. Strangely, they do not see the hypocrisy in this.
The judge has in this case pretty much told Nassau county that they will lose. The Okeechobee County School Board tried to ban GSA's and lost. Nassau county paid $326,000 in attorneys fees in that case.
I'm glad you responded. I am well aware that everything you said is true. Look at Amendment 2 and Prop 8. They passed these laws to fight against "activist judges". When they saw their names were going to be listed and the amount they contributed they run right back to the "activist judges" and ask for special rights.

I'm not surprised a fat 3 time divorced drunk and pill popper now claims to be the leader of the Republican Party. He's the perfect role model.

You are incorrect. The one thing he DOES care about is keeping his fat salary. This is political pandering in a conservative State and conservative county.

Sadly, I understand it all to well. That's why I spend several hours of my life each week on here. Call me a realistic idealist. I firmly believe that truthful education and respectful dialogue can change things (and people).

Daily Horoscope for January 7

Pisces

Why not plan go back to school? Choose to study a subject that will change your direction in life. You may be limited in the short term, but overall it will be worth your while. You will be emotional about money matters if you let cash slip through your fingers, but a romantic evening of cultural pursuits will restore your soul.
