Josh is a great young man. I hear he was one of the real active officers making drug arrest often. He will definitely be missed by his peers and Vallejo citizens who care.

Well folks, we have seen it over and over again written by Tony and Doug, also known as Vallejo Visitor and Golden Retirement. They both repeat that the sky is falling and that officers are paid too much.

Well, they are getting what they wished for. Police Officers leaving for other cities where they are wanted and more financially stable. Not to mention a city manager and city council that does not lie to the public about finances.

After living here for 30yrs, this type of behavior and attitude does not surprise me.

Good-bye!

Now... let's work on getting those who qualify and have the community's interest at heart.

Obviously crime is high in Vallejo, according to the latest F.B.I. Crime Report. So let's now employ those who wish to lower that crime rate.

Note also that they are leaving for lower paying jobs. In fact, any cop job in the bay area that they take will be for lower pay. This is the reason for the financial instability. The trough is empty because some have been overeating.

This is scary. Vallejo is a city that can't afford to lose police officers, or even be understaffed for that matter. Talk about a bad situation getting worse......

To the Citizens of Vallejo,
You should be very angry that you are losing this investment and many others like him. You should be angry at the inept people you put into office and the ineptitude rampant at city hall. They are on a mission to destroy your police department which is well over 100 years old. They are also destroying you fire department. this all stems from persaonal vendettas and personal anger and bitterness. Their long term goal is to privatize you public safety, save a few bucks short term and claim they are heros in the eyes of the VIB folks because they destroyed the labor unions and saved the city a few bucks. But, just like any politics, this will be short lived and your city WILL be in ruins. Wake up Vallejoans and get pissed! YOU HAVE A PACK OF IDIOTS RUNNING A FORTUNE 500 COMPANY!!!!STOP THE MADNESS!

You should be very angry that this city allowed Wal mart to build that beautiful shopping center in that little hole in the wall next door in Napa County. Look at the huge population of Vallejo....that Wal mart can not stay open without Vallejo shoppers...SO DON"T SHOP IN AMERICAN CANYON!

Expect more frequency of posts from the Kochenknocker Bros. to blame the PSU contracts, minimize the roles of councils that were duped and swooned by developers on both sides of the river, justify the salary of the CM, and assign fear mongering to anyone that expresses concerns for a rise in crime. The really scary thing is that there will be more PD leaving.

Thanks for calling me a pig. I will add that to the long list of reasons to leave this place and go to a place where the citizens don't hate me.

You don't get it do you? There are 15,000 open positions in California alone. Agencies are scrambling to find qualified candidates. It is not about the money moron. People are drawn to this calling for other reasons. Folks don't want to be cops anymore.

Just wait until July...this is only the beginning. What would you do if you called 911 and no one came. It won't be because officer refuse to go, it will because they are too busy to go. The city is ready to erxplode and these 8 are just a start. Good luck in your new jobs brothers and my favorite sister. Your agencies are getting quality.

I resign as a resident of Vallejo. I don't like the way I'm being treated by the Public Safety Unions. My morale is low because my taxes go to pay exorbitant salaries, I'm depressed because my tax dollars are used for Union Leaders to do charity work. I'm in the process of looking for another city that appreciates my ability to pay taxes and has Union Leaders that look out for me and care about the place I live in.

They have a lot of vacancies in Oakland and Richmond and I think after some of these guys get to work in East Oakland and the Iron Triangle in Richmond they will know what earning their pay is all about ...

Officer Coleman and Koford its been a blast working with you two. Ignore these VIB idiots they don't know the true meaning of "heart" or courage. I would love to see anyone of these losers handle the streets of vallejo after dark. The city of napa and other agencies are the true winners because they are getting some of the best police officers. Congrats again brothers.

As for those who are staying, less blogging, more work, makes for a better cop,

Have a good life officers. Just like Vallejo, you will do fine. As for the fear peddlers on this thread - give it up. Don't try to blame our residents and leaders for fiscal problems that were caused in large part by PSU greed and selfishness. Like the officers who are leaving, let's move on Vallejo.

It's bankruptcy, folks. Union leader Mat Mustard chooses to put a spin on it, but Vallejo has simply run out of money to pay the contracts. Some union people consider that to be same as "mistreating" public safety officers, but there's a difference. Other than a few bloggers responding to other bloggers, where's the mistreatment? Detective Mustard is announcing that the City of Vallejo is mistreating its Police Officers? It's understandable for him to say that, as long as it's pointed out that he's speaking as a union leader. It's his job to stir up hate against his employer, i.e. The City of Vallejo.

Financial instability and uncertainty is a good reason for people to change jobs. We have plenty of that in Vallejo right now. Some people will leave and they will be missed. Good luck to them. Others will remain and weather the storm and perhaps find a seniority advantage in sticking around to help with the recovery. But the hatred pushed by bloggers like "ScumPatrol" is simply union jibe intended to fan the flames. Ignore fiscal reality and focus on stirring up hatred toward the employer, in this case the City of Vallejo.

And here's more of the union fear mongering by "Robert" who wears the union label. From reading these blogs, it would appear that the Police hate any citizen who refuses to take a stand with them against the City Manager and non-union Council Members. Nice work, fellows. Relax, folks. It's going to be tough for a while, but Vallejo is a good city and will get through this bankruptcy and be better than before.
