I got the impression that Dr. John Owen doesn't seem to really care about animals. He barely examined my pet.

I agree! Dr. Owen doesn't care about animals! He killed my kitten during a routine spay surgery and acted like it was commonplace.

when I was growing up, I lived in the area, and my mother used to take our animals to this place. Had two die, and that was over 15 years ago!!! it's great to see that this place is still open giving the same crappy service to our pets.

He was mean to my boy chow to the point he faught going to any vet after him - never a problem before . He biopsied a bump on her stomach when 5 said didn't know what it was she turned 13 in november & in 12 days time that bump melted off and left a hole the size of a lemmon - anyone know where he is now?

I have been going to Dr.Owen for years and I absolutely love him and so do my pets. First of all, to Lovecats1, do you have any idea how many pets die under anesthesia per day? It happens. It isn't uncommon at all. So get a clue and do your research. Second, to MOLOCH, he biopsied a bump when she was 5 years old and then lived to be 13yrs old. I am willing to bet that you never brought her back in for follow up care. Shame on you for letting it go on so long without treatment. I can also tell that you are extremely uneducated by your typing. Maybe you shouldn't have owned a dog. If you aren't smart enough to spell simple words, you obviously aren't smart enough to own a pet. You had an additional 6 YEARS with your pet after the biopsy. Your dog was 13!!!! Maybe you should be sited for cruelty for letting your dog suffer???
Dr.Owen is extremely friendly and well educated. I have trusted him for years and will continue to do so. I love his new office and his staff. The staff always greets everyone with a smile and really treat the pets like family.
Animal Charity is what it is. It is for low income families and they do the best they can with the money that families can afford to spend. If you can't afford a pet, then don't get one.

Let me apologize for my math. I said 6 years and it was 8 years. That just makes it worse for you MOLOCH. Get a grip. Your dog was elderly. And if it ruptured and you did nothing, you are a terrible pet owner. I feel bad for your dog.

I agree with WoodyFitz. Dr. Owen is also my vet and he's a great doctor. He does great surgery and is very caring and compassionate. Unfortunately, lovecats, you do have anesthesic risks especially when you do not do pre-anesthesic bloodwork which I'm sure you did not since we're talking about animal charity. Most owners try to cut corners with veterinary care and don't realize how hard you make it for the veterinarian. You want the doctor to do all kinds of procedures but don't have the money to pay for it. You tie his hands on diagnostics and want answers. You bring in a half dead pet and say "Oh this just happened today." Really? Do you think they are that stupid? Then expect miracles and want a healthy pet back. And as for holy crap, you might want to check your facts before you go accusing Dr. Owen of "killing" your pets and giving crappy service. He's only been a in practice for 10 years and you said that was 15 years ago. Hmmmm? You do the math.(If you can?) People don't realize that owning a pet is a luxury item not a necessity. You don't NEED a pet you WANT a pet. If you CAN'T afford a pet. DON'T have a pet. I'd trust Dr. John Owen before any other vet in the tri-county area.:-)
