This is pretty cool local news!

Family Life Network from Bath NY have this on their facebook page.
"Standing Firm", a new film from Praise Pictures is in production in Lewiston, NY. The film is almost completed its Production stage and is moving into Post-Production with hopes of a 2009 release.
STANDING FIRM is a story of forgiveness and finding peace in times of suffering. Dave, a widower, is working himself to death. Late nights doing paperwork and running on fumes is the norm. Dave\'s son Steven, the only remaining Christian of the family has been watching his fathers now unhealthy lifestyle with great concern unsure of what to do next. Soon God moves on Steven\'s heart to stop complaining about his fathers situation and help him instead. As Dave begins to move in the right direction, he searches for the ultimate question about his wife\'s death.....WHY?
What can you local Christians do to help? Share the website and movie with others!
Visit our website: http://www.standingfirmmovie.com
Also if your local, tell other people about the film that might be beneficial to us. Call your local Christian radio stations and let them know that we exist! Call Family Life! Call WDCX! Call your local newspaper! DO WHAT YOU CAN!
We want to Glorify the Lord and see his Word spread to others. We want to reach others for Christ with our films. Will you support us and help us? We hope you will!
God Bless,

I thought that it was a pretty good thing to happen in my old stmpin' grounds. At least it isn't a MURDER or slasher or druggie movie!

I don't think religion has anything to do with the fact a newspaper has anything worth printing. The Gazette couldn't even come up with news a few years ago and had to print a 5 day expose on the people of Niagara Falls supposed corruption from 40 years ago. It isn't worth the 50 cents they charge for it. Shut the Gazette down or get new staff who ain't in someones pocket. Seen it with my own eyes, you have to pay them a hefty sum to get them to show up to report anything positive.

Papers should be free~ There should STILL be enough advertisements to pay expenses of the paper. Magazines too~

So true but greed comes in and all free press is lost. Sad fact but true~

Free press went out the window but NF seems to have caused its own demise and needs finally support the only free paper there any more. The Niagara Reporter which is free may be dirt to some but it DOES get to the bottom of stuff. If they just found a balance they could put the Gazette under! They may hve not been so well precieved but Mike Hudson as not so friendly as he can be has done something good!

Hm, That's cool that there IS a free paper.
People have the potential to ruin anything... THAT is what HAPPENED to Niagara Falls...
So sad that just across the border is wealth and hope. Hard to imagine how/why the USA side is so bad... how can the natural beauty and splendor of the area be soooo down played. It's been exploited for generations..so much so that WE who have seen it hundreds of times do NOT appreciate the value of such magnificent scenery.
I think the falls has to go back in time to present a Norman Rockwell atmosphere... Advertise as a New OLD falls.
Involve the people OF the city and county in an ad campaign and grass roots rebuild.

Awesome thought and one so possible. For example, in the Falls there is a building that many have fought to have the owner shut down. BUT no one has taken the time to hear the man who owns it. One Niagara is the old Carborundum building and city Government has fought this man on every step to give back but city and state and try to take this from him. But here is a little known fact. The buildings owner who has since the day he recieved this building has been beat up by the Government every which way. He could ,as he tried, to help bring life back to this side of the border. This is where on the 9th floor he would like for a restaurant to come in and show the beauty of the Falls as this is the ONLY vantage point in the Falls to see BOTH sides of the Falls from the AMERICAN side of the river. It is a spectacular sight as I once had the pleasure to see the view it once myself. I feel very blessed to have had this experience.

I have a few different points on the Canadian side of the river and how they allow thing to happen there. Personally I refuse to get a passport as I feel NO desire to see any other country. My passion is to see the many things right here in our beautiful country. There is more then one person could ever see in one lifetime right here.

I think your idea is an awesome one and so good. Now if there was a way to make this happen that is what would give the New OLD Falls a breath of hope and life on OUR side of the river. Grass roots is hard to get motivated here but I believe if they are spoon fed to them at city hall they may let something such as this WOULD succeed.

It sounds like an idea. I once tried to go to city hall and join in one of the meetings and submit a plan. I wanted to help another bring back the Soapbox derby that was on Lockport Road years ago. We submitted the idea and at first were brushed off and directed to research the idea and to return.

Well, when we did we found this to be big business and now with all the SANCTION rules and regulations there were so many rules unless you had nearly $10,000 in sponsers per car. I was OUTRAGED and wanted no part of this. What we and a few of the businesses who border the HYDE PARK bridge(a better angle for the cars and community businesses)were very supportive and wanted on board with this idea. SO what we proposed was to bring back the good old days where kids found crates, wheels in the garbage, axles made of a simple rod, you know, be creative build from the mind and show the children the things they coud accomplish on thier own, not big business with premade parts. Well, this was shot down so the idea was gone and one I have many good memories my children will never UNDERSTAND.

YES it would be wonderful to be part of this accomplishment to bring back the
New OLD Niagara. To see this city not have one building as such but incorperate many phases of the falls throughout it. TO give back life to those in the falls and encourage them to accomplish these feats. Though health may hold me back some it will give me energy and a reason to fight to get more strength. I know many people in this city need this same sort of "reason to believe" and not feel ike they are pounding thier head on a brick wall. Thank you for being so nice and making me feel so wecome in your group. I am sure the nice folks over there could be of some inspiration. I recommend you take a look at Mike Hudsons newspaper The Niagara Reporter and see past the constant berage of constant criticism of many and see he has uncovered more corruption in Niagara Falls then the Gazette has in just as many years. He SEEMS to be open to ideas and is looking for ways to help this city(and to think when I first read him I saw nothing but negative but I seen why once I returned as a resident bck here)
I now believe if a good idea, that was not an added expense to taxpayers, he would support it and give it the press it deserved. Lets find a wy to reach each other and toss the ideas and I will pitch the ide where I can and help where I can. I hope your holiday is a wonderful one and again thank you for your invite and such touching words.:)

Well, I understand that. My recent stroke has been hard to get through. It has made me work that much harder to get back to me. I have my speech back so this has been a plus. Been lots of hard work but with the love of good friends and by the grace of God it IS back. I understand that people tend to not see and I do apologize for my initial anger but I think there are good people on here that care for the city of NF and wish they took the time to stand against those who stop progress there. They have a natura gift with the FALLS being there that is a head start on heping this city. I think if they did more to change the way we allow so much promoting the Canadian side instead of our own we could put the rest in place on brick at a time. The city has so much to offer and such good people who seem to be hurt by past Gov. officials there. They just need to see stop fighting amongst themselves. The REAL people from there need to help. Those who come there from the outside are only there to take from there it seems. Outsiders who come in with a better plan for a city that is not their HOME I find to be suspect and people should watch out for them.

Seems almost ANY growth would be acceptable no matter who finances it. But you are right about non locals.. Did they really turn the old convention center into a casino? Is the winter garden building still there?

Yes the Convention center is no more, ahhh the good old days. It is a Casino and they built a hotel behind it. It has its good points and bad. Bringing people here it is good but since it is owned by Indians who have been nice enough to be part of the growth of the city it then made it soverign land which gives it the ability to do things the other businesses are not able to do. This may seem unfair but what it is what the legislature in this state does to then add extra restraints on local public business with no smoking, higher taxes and other things the city has run down even more I am sure then what you remember. Some people here try but then run into the brick wall between city hall and local patronage. Hopefully the new year will bring more changes. Have a great night!:)

Yeah was weird today. as I thought about our conversation, when I went out today to run errands I decided to take a short swing through down town Niagara Falls and refect on wonderful memories there before returning home.

It was kind of depressing but if you ooked deep behind the unsureness down there I also reflected back on the old Winter Gardens. This was a place that had such beauty and peace at one time and now they have begun to get things ready to remove not only it but also the Rainbow Mall that was attached as well. The business man who purchased it was sold a shoddy piece of property and told fix it or else. Joe Anderson (Smokin' Joe) bought it and once he had it gave it his best shot with what he was sold. But to no avail. But at least he tried.

YES,it is delapidating but just knowing our whole childhood is revolved once agin is strange. I remember as a child my mother , before the Winter Grdens were built and Old Falls Street was built she took us by many of the old businesses such as Bier's and said "Never forget this for this was my childhood and teen years now being replaced with a new one for the next" she also had told us her downtown which my children would never know.

Well if she could see today she would be amazed. They are removing the NEW Falls Street built 30+ years ago and had been MY generation; from one transition to another. Well, NOW they are redoing OLD Falls Street (front of the Casino or Lacky Plaza as you would rememeber it) is a parking lot for Valet at the Casino and Falls on tht side is now going back to the old style Falls Street. Although Beir's and the other family oriented businesses have given way yo the new ones about to move in we can hope that this city maybe has seen NEW isn't ALWAYS better.

Thanks for letting me reflect on my memories as I took your thoughts with me. I thank you for giving me some wonderful memories, I have long stored away and have not taken the time to ook back on often.

Good night my friend and bless you for being so kind ;)
