Funny you should use the term, "moralists," because the section of Georgia State Law that's TITLE 16, CHAPTER 12 is "OFFENSES AGAINST PUBLIC HEALTH AND MORALS." Codes 16-12-20, 16-12-21, and 16-12-23 deal with gambling.

I think it is a great idea. The courthouse crowd can cut cards to see who gets to rob the tax office next and the contractors can cut cards for the next overpaid job and Lamar can cut cards for people's land instead of having to out and out steal it. It has a world of good uses. See how many you can come up with but no cheating now. This is county business and we must keep it above board and honest. RIGHT

We don't care about playing cards. We care about illegal gambling and smoking in the men's room.

Oh I almost forgot. Since the table is in the men's room it's not for "everyone". But if the men don't mind having a few women in the locker room maybe we can get a game going?

1. A teacher or student of morals and moral problems.
2. One who follows a system of moral principles.
3. One who is unduly concerned with the morals of others.

I think the deck is stacked against the taxpayer.

The community center was going to bring prosperty to Union County. Business owners were going to flock here look out the window and open great industries and hire everyone. Well what Lamar forgot that Union County is no longer made up of uneducated farmers and sawmill workers who could be lied to in this fashion. We have many retired executives living in Blairsville. They have lived in the real world all their life and they know that business moves and sets up shop in a county that can furnish the following things and they could care less about community center, meeks park or the golf course. And especially not the horse arena. They are interested in Utilities, transportation, low taxes and not high assements and low millage, low or no fees and ability to get rid of waste. Lamar is setting up Union County for a retirement village. We have a lot of retired people now and we should welcome them but with retirees come service jobs not high paying skilled jobs. Look at Highlands. One of the richest parts of the county but the town isn't as big as Young Harris. Only jobs there are doing for the rich and famous. We have two building in the industrial park that Lamar borrowed money to build to help bring in industry. They aren't finished and there is no prospect of someone to occupy either one. The community center got finished though. It's time to wake up and smell the coffee.

I'm not sure why playing poker on a card table at the community center means there is gambling???? Could It just be that people are just playing poker ???
If the ladies wanted to use it don't you think they would move it so they could????
Why do some have to make things more than what they really are????

There are some miserable people out there, not ever going to be happy about anything. There is no use to even try to reason with them, they will never see the positive of anything. What a shame:-( ther is much to be grateful for in this county.

No one is kidding you, you do a pretty good job all by yourself.
