Because of the ever-decreasing ACT and PSAE scores at BOTH high schools (guess it took Oswego High School to make them pay attention), board members will probably change the block schedule to A and B days. Which means that students will have 8 classes year-round...classes 1-4 on "A" days, and classes 5-8 on "B" days. I am glad for this because it means that english, math, and science will get the daily attention they need! My kids only did well on the ACT and PSAE (and all 3 are in great colleges on scholarships) because of out-of-school math and science reviews done independently and for free.

This afternoon, at OEHS, Oswego police were called to the building because some hysterical OEHS students against changing the schedule crashed the board meeting and members felt threatened. Get a grip, kids. This is a GOOD change, for once. It needs the support of all parents and students.

Block scheduling will not change. It was voted down. Don't you people know that change is good? Lol. I feel sorry for the high schoolers in this district. All scores will continue to spiral downward without all-year math, english, and science. It also has a lot to do with inexperienced, incompetent teachers in the district - they don't pay enough to get good teachers. Sorry!

I agree changing block scheduling is not a bad idea English, science, and math need more attention in our school curriculum then they are currently getting.

I actually like block scheduling. I have found that my kids do better when they only have to focus on those 4 classes. They are able to put more thought into their work, and they are much more organized. My oldest has achieved high ACT scores also.

I think it would benefit the children to change the block scheduling. I think it is hard enough to get kids to pay attention to teachers, but to try to get them to for that long of a time, they get bored with the class half way through. I think they would concentrate more if they had shorter class periods, we did it years ago and it worked fine, maybe the test scores would go back up. I guess it would be worth a shot to try to change it, it could always be changed back if it doesn't work.

Aquarius

You're eager to have a good time, and nothing less will do; you'll soon put your work to one side and start to enjoy yourself instead. If you're going to a social event that you've been looking forward to for ages, try to keep a firm grip on your expectations in case reality falls far short of them. Be especially realistic if you've got high hopes of love and romance.
