Do Oswego Police deserve a raise

I say NO WAY. If anything, the force should be cut down. Too many of them hide out during shifts, doing nothing.

really? and you know they do this because. don't get me wrong I think they make plenty, but they are here to protect us. I don't even know how many officers we have now. I remember when I was a kid there were like 5 or 6 way too many now. I am not sure how much they make, so I guess I can't really say.

Their pay and benefits and retirement packages are so far ahead of private industry it is laughable.

Usually the Police and Firefighters get paid the same. If a town has enough to house fire personal in a 5 star Hotel they have enough money to pay the Police more. They deserve a lot more than the fire dept.

Firemen have to know two things: Fire is hot and water puts it out. Cops have to be like lawyers.

Oswego cops are like bottom-feeders -- you are SO right! Especially when ordering young teen girls to get on their hands and knees to pick up dropped napkins as they stood over them (smirking) on Route 30 in the middle of the day. Sadly, a true story.
Oswego cops are overpaid, underworked, and DO NOT investigate anything. Had a Blackberry stolen at Kendall 10. Even though we tracked down the culprits and turned all info over to Oswego police, they did NOTHING. So we contacted the Kendall county sheriff's office. They were glad to help - culprits were punished. Oswego police are totally laughed at by Kendall County prosecutors/defense attorneys/judges. Just ask anyone in that office.
Get rid of the entire force and start over. They are county jokes.

Yeah, like I'm going to ask defense attorneys there opinoin of cops.

They are very pro-active in the community.
Like writing every ticket they can for a bulb out etc.
Or harassing kids that use the bike paths.
Too many cops they could care less about the residents.
But selective taxation of their residents to make themself's seem usefull is about their only agenda.....

yes agree they are a-holes..... by proactive i meant staying in the sub-divisions that seems to be where the crime is happening.... i have not seen a police car drive past my houst in over 3 months..... read the ledger just how many people they arrest breaking into cars, all i see is people driving with no license and maybe a little weed or a pipe......

A car hit my car on douglas and ogden and took off (hit & run), it took the cop 25 minutes to respond.

Did they make sure you were wearing your seatbelt, and then give you a parking ticket??

When you go to bed, do you feel secure? When you walk your dog do you have to carry a gun so someone won't chop your face off for $22.50? That's why I like cops. And, you're worried about tickets- give me a break. Without them you'd have to stay home, think about it.
