If people are bringing thier own food, then maybe the business needs to offer foods that the customers can't just bring themselves. I would try to sell funnel cake. Deep fried hotdogs. Onion Rings. Candy Apples. Just a few things off the top of my head. I'm sure if they sat down and talked about it they could come up with more things that the public would enjoy and have a hard time resisting to pay for when they came to watch the movies.

It's not so much the drive in but the movies that are being made today. Its a great experience but in the end you need a good show and there aren't enough of them. I will support them anyway.

Oh yea, remember it well. We, as kids, were not allowed into some shows because of movie content. Fine, the stuff we saw was just great, without sound, sitting in the woods behind the theater. Miss those old "finger bowl" drive-ins. How about Lincoln, Stoney Brook and Cross Keys drive-ins?

Sad :(
I loved going to the drive-in when I was a kid. Maybe I'll try harder this year to get to Haar's.

They could charge $5 for a food permit, the way The Bengies does down in Baltimore. That way they can still collect revenue and people can still bring their own food.

What was the name of the drive-in on the West side of Rt 83, down in the Loganville area? Was it called "The Trail"?

Ah yes, The Trail. In the end, like so many other drive-ins, they tried to remain in business by showing X-rated movies. Motorists on I-83 had a grande view of the screen from the highway. As you can imagine, that didn't last very long.

The Trail Drive-In on Rt 111 Susquehanna Trail,(how it got it's name) just north of Shrewsbury and east of Glen Rock. There is now a road there named Theatre Rd where it use to be. Veterinary Hospital there now.

I think drive-ins are a thing of the past unless major security is around.

I've been to both Haar's and the Bengies down in MD---- Haar's would be better if a)it wasn't a flat, paved parking lot, and b) if they would keep trucks & SUVs at the back of the lot.

If you like drive-ins, be sure to check out the Bengies http://www.bengies.com/

If they had to sell much more than they already have on the menu how many more people do you think they can fit behind that counter. When you go to a restaurant do they serve every single item you and your family want to eat? Its a drive-in not a restaurant. They are trying to keep the menu about the same as it was years ago with ajustments for the changing of times. Nobody can please everbody all the time. Check the menu I am sure there is something you like!

So what would you like them to do? Have the whole parking lot redone? Its financial reasons they may not stay open and your worried about a flat parking lot, OMG!
