Come on! There is no crime in York! Just ask Mayor Johnny. You may have to catch him in Hanover to do that though!

I wonder if things would be different if we had a law like in Texas where we could use deadly force to prevent us from being robbed?

It's just a perception. The city is safe.

When I lived in the city I had a carry permit. I had to pull a gun on a drunken, baseball-bat yielding thug. It was very effective. The police arrived 5 minutes later and caught him. This country is full of twisted do-gooders who are slowly killing our society.

The advantage you had was the perp had a baseball bat which can be construed to be a lethal weapon.

Whats sad Is i parked a little past the Corner sign Last night and i get a ticket. Madison ave. In the Whole 2 years I have lived there I have never gotten a ticket for this reason… Yet my Car had been Broken into Twice since I Have lived there. York city cops need to be patrolling not going up and down the street Writing tickets for Registrations and such nonsence

no, quite the opposite, they need to write tons of tickets, especially for double parking, stopping in the middle of the street during rush hour to talk to a friend, etc. start hassling those who can't follow the rules to the point where the either straighten out or pack up & move cause they're tired of being hassled. the scum of york act the way they do because there are no consequences for their actions, and their actions become progressively worse because they know the police ignore lower level deviant behavior.

A theft in the city occurs everytime someone has to pay their property taxes. And what the heck do they get for their money? Crappy roads, crime, uneducated kids and a government that is apathetic.

The listings for things taken were preventable! This is YORK CITY!!When will people learn to not keep items of value in their cars? Turn lights on out front too. It may not stop someone but i would think someone is going to take something in front of a house that is dark before a house that has lights on!!

did not know

People need to stop and think. would they like someone to take their things that they work so hard for. Why don,t they learn to get a job and work for what they want. instead of taking thing that do not belong to them.

Exactly. People do whatever their impulses tell them, including double parking, leaving their unattended car in the middle of the street with the blinkers on, or stopping in the middle of the street beside an EMPTY parking space because they can. I can't count the number of times I've had to sit through an extra light cycle because someone sees a buddy, stops where they are, and has a conversation while everyone sits behind them, blowing their horns -- but do they stop? Oh, no...they's talkin'...they gots to finish. The city is a cesspool and as long as everyone just continues to do what they want, it's only going to become even more like it already is. But don't ask to do anything about it -- the folks that do stuff like that would be the first to complain of unfair treatment or harassment...so they just let them go.

George wrote: Come on! There is no crime in York! Just ask Mayor Johnny. You may have to catch him in Hanover to do that though! But John Brenner says there isn't enough money to have more of a police force! But you watch...this is in his neighborhood and York's #1 desirable living spot, "The Avenues." Suddenly, there will be a lot more patrolling there. We all know if it's HIS territory, it's a big deal. Remember when one of his secretary's homes was broken into and it made front page news with the prominent display that she worked for the mayor? I roll my eyes...and people said the FORMER administration was self serving...

Didnt former Police Commissioner Clannagan get fired because he owned a house outside of the City and rented a small place in the City to stay during the week?
