Very sad that this amazing piece of American history is surrounded by ignorant savages who think the world owes them something.

Can you imagine what the people who built that house in 1761 would think if they could see what our country has become? It saddens and sickens me.

There are many, many historically significant buildings in York. And right, lots of them are in nasty parts of town. For example, there is a fine stone house right across the street from the North End Cigar Store on North Newberry Street.

South Penn Street, about three blocks south of W. Market Street, at the bridge over the Codorus. Cookes House Lane is just West of Penn Street.

Mike I have a photo print of the Cookes House circa 1945. There is a lady in the yard and a fence where you can see the laundry is hanging. I have owned this print for almost 30 years and I always love to look at it and wonder what the lady was thinking at the time. If you want a scan of what I have contact me thru here and I will email one over to you. "He who loves an old house never loves in vain"..

What an honor to have someone like Mike own such an important piece of history! And to live along the Codorus Creek, one of the many water ways he helps protect along the mighty Susquehanna and Chesapeake Bay! Mike, we are very proud of you! Jeff & Sue
