One easy fix is give the baby up for adoption! Why do people constantly place themselves insituations that they can not afford to be in? This is just another case of "what can you do for ME"! Why isn't tje daughter working she was old enough to lay on her back. Because we all are pay for her kid now.

Say good by to the cell phone and internet......go to the good will and get a couch and small items to help you through.....all I see in this article is people who do not want to give up things they want to have verses what they need to have.... That baby will be more important then anything else. I understand people hit hard times....but a cell phone is a luxery and so is the internet. You cannot repair these things until people cut out bad habits.

That would not be an option as that baby will be the main provider in the household. So much more will be given to them having the baby around. First get the kid a social security number and put the electric bill in his name. Have another one for the gas.

Sorry but no sympathy from me! 1st, I believe a diet is in order. Get rid of the cells phoneS and cable and internet. They could have gone to Wal Mart and bought 20 dollar air mattress's instead of 900 dollars for a sleeper sofa. Lottery tickets? Now...a baby being born to a high school student, isn't that hitting the welfare and WIC lottery? Hey..make the boyfriend get a job to support his kid.

Alot of people between 18-50 yrs of age, cant get jobs because they cant pass a drug test.It is also hard,to pay bills when you spend money on drugs, cigs, and booze. A person on the edge of poverty should eliminate these bad habits.Walk down the streets of our cities and you will understand, what I am saying.Im sure,It will be said I lack compassion,Ive been paying a mortgage for a dead beat for a year now, because I dont want 2 small children in the street.Ive decided to close the bank,it would seem, the more you help people, the more they need help.

I can't muster sympathy for a person who spends scarce money on cell phones and $900.00 sofas. What they need is instruction in living frugally. I live somewhat comfortably on less than she makes. Nothing fancy, but it can be done, without all the drama and begging and publicity.

another family who is a downfall to our society. First there priorities are out of place. Lose the cell phones, teach your daughter not to allow herself to get knocked up (come on use protection like the rest of the smart world) Sounds like the mom is very lazy in this situation, get up off your butt and find a job, there are some out there who will pay you no matter if were in a bad time now or not. It really upsets me that all these people are working so hard out there day in and day out to make there lives so much better and here we have a dead beat on society. The funniest thing the newspaper decides to waste some space and cover it. wow.

My heart goes out to anyone struggling to keep their heads above water. But come on, use some common sense..., That picture above says alot...they can't buy food, but yet mom AND pregnant daughter can afford a cell phone? Cable?? Internet??? A $900.00 couch? Get real people, since when did these things become absolute necessities like a roof over your head, or food in your belly, or clothes on your back??? I have a hard time feeling sorry for someone whose priorities are such as these.

No, I have no sympathy for this family. Their priorities are misguided. Educate yourselves so you can earn more money. Boyfriends, a.k.a "my baby's daddies", have no business spending the night at her home. Show some strategic thinking and use birth control before having sex. Find furniture elsewhere beside rent a center. If you cannot completely pay for furniture at the time of purchase, you should not be buying furniture. Reevaluate your values, decisions and priorities.

Come on get real. I hate having to pay for low lifes that take full advantage of the system that the gov't put into place. Instead of a system that assist folks, these folks are living fully off the system. Let's look at the one photo, there is a nice love seat for two, multiple DVD's, cell phone, cordless phone. WTF Over! Then Collen wants to talk about buying lottery tickets, internet. Maybe you could spend your money on food and not comfort ideas for a change. As for the daughter, she needs a little education in life and maybe a baby wouldn't be on the way. Nothing like living on the streets of York. Just one more human WE have to feed!

If you can keep a cell phone on than you should be able to keep a roof over you head. I know a few people that are homeless but,,somehow they keep that cell working.

You small minded bigoted people. How easy it is to throw stones when you all live in glass houses. People all over York make bad choices and bad decisions. Colleen willingly opened her situation out to York Newspaper only to be bad mouthed in the end. The picture shows them on cell phones that are prepaid and spent more time off then on, which was also their only means of contact in getting a new home. The cell phones were only purchased when the ailing car, that spends more time down than working left her sitting several times late at night with no means of contacting anyone!! How typical that you put your stereotypes on this family. There is no drug usage, no system usage, simply trying to get a hand up NOT a hand out. This woman has worked hard for the last 35 years trying not to depend on the system for anything. Food stamps was a last resort. F you all!! The newspaper doesn't tell you that the money she won was on a $1 ticket. Whom of you doesn't dream of trying to win the lottery to make life easier?? Katrina Pierce of Mylin Properties told her that she could stay in that house, that they would do the repair work around her. Only to realize that Colleens daughter was the mother of Katrina's ex-husbands other 2 children so an old bitter wound found it way to hurt another person. Even the contractors that worked on the house could not figure out why things played themselves out the way that they did, the house did not need to be condemned it was simply a means to an end. A 18 year old hurt that Katrina felt she had finally found a way to pay back. Shame on all you small minded bigoted people for casting stones....

What the newspaper didn't say was how she sold EVERYTHING she owned to get her family back into a home. They had nothing left.. and she isn't even the one who bought the furniture, her children bought it for her. She didn't ask for any of this, she was sought out. She didn't beg for help...she did everything that was asked of her by everyone involved.

Get rid of the cable, the cell phone and the Internet. No more lottery tickets, what a waste. Secondly - Richelle, if you see that your family is barely making ends meet, how selfish are you to bring another mouth to feed into that home. Get a job and get your butt to work AND to Planned Parenthood - it's FREE you know if you can't afford the birth control. YDR - why are you even running this story? Ridiculous.
