The gun lobby should be thanking Obama to no end. Sales have been out of sight.
I think Obama will be pre-occupied with trying to fix the economy. In the meantime, the gun and bullet makers will be laughing their way to the bank. |

3 We inherited a system from Bush where the deficit increased $5 trillion dollars and the middle class is worse than it was under Clinton. The 400 highest earners last year made around $232 million on average and paid only 17% in taxes while hard working families paid far higher. Wall Street was able to manipulate oil prices at the expense of the middle class and nothing was done to them. Bush negotiated a plan for seniors that would not permit negotiations on drug prices, while the exact same drugs, made in the same plants, are available in other countries for a fraction of the price. Yes, it is time for change, and fear mongering only works with the a small group of our society that don't think on their own, they believe whatever Rush tells them, and they still support failed policies of the past. |

2 Because the Democrats never use fear-mongering eh, Petey? Now, who needs to be held accountable and what changes? Aren't the THOUSANDS of gun laws presently on the book enough for you? Really? So 400 taxpayers paid almost 4 MILLION dollars EACH in taxes and your so called "hard working" families didn't. Thanks for making the case against the regressive tax system. How many of your so called "hard working" families paid NO TAXES?? Wow. So Bush did ALL of that. No Democrats were involved? No other Republicans had a hand in it? Sounds like you're simply regurgitating the DNC party line that was spoon fed to you followed by a grape Kool-Aid chaser. SO Al Gore's fear-mongering doesn't matter to you. The DNC's fear-mongering about McCain during the election cycle didn't bother you either? Selective indignation is a bitch. |

Bottom line.
Are you better off today than you were under Clinton? Were 8 years of Bush and the Republican party getting everything they wanted better for the American middle class than what we had under Clinton? Corporations, the ultra rich, Wall Street, and the Pharmaceutical industry got everything they wanted. Is the average American better off? |

1 The "bullet" is the lead part of a "cartridge" that is propelled forward when a gun is fired. The "cartridge" is what this story is about, which consists of a case, which contains the gun powder and primer, and the bullet itself. There's no shortage of "bullets", but they don't do much good unless you can throw them very, very fast. |

1 I'm usually highly critical of postings on this forum -- in general, they are emotionally-laden and lacking a factual basis -- but the above post is an exception to the rule. I'm a gun owner and hold a CCW license. I'm also a former Central FL law enforcement officer. I'm not opposed to gun ownership, but the current hysteria by many gun owners is perplexing on its surface. Logically, one would look to the Supreme Court of the United States decision in District of Columbia v. Heller 128 S.Ct. 2783 (U.S.,2008) and its progeny -- see, for example, U.S. v. Bonner Slip Copy, 2008 WL 4369316 (N.D.Cal.,2008) for an analysis of persons "restricted" from owning firearms -- would have eased fears that 2nd Amendment rights would be curtailed under ANY administration. Below the surface though, lies an industry that delights in using those fears to increase its profits. I read the occasional gun magazine -- when I have the opportunity -- and it's particularly insightful to read editors's and columnists's comments about the current administration, an renewewd assault weapons ban, and widescale revocation of gun rights. Simply put, these inflammatory phrases sell more magazines, firearms, and ammunition. While I was in the market for a new firearm, I'll not buy one now. Firearms and ammunition prices are ballooning, and eventually, all balloons deflate. Read my lips: Obama has more on his plate than he can handle, and assault weapons are the last thin on his mind. However, if the American public keeps hording ammunition and firearms, you'll draw the very attention you dread. |

You can rest assured, enough liberals support gun rights to stop anything that resembles a ban. I know I will. See, most of us care about ALL citizen rights, and believe we should support intelligent decision making, right or left. Wish I had the same confidence in the right. |

I am average and I did real well the last 8 yrs in fact I did so well I retired @ 50 (3 yrs ago) I took care of my self I did not get greedy, sure my home value decreased but it's still valued at way more than I built it 10 years ago, I watched the market, asked questions of people I trusted and moved money from stocks to cd's and was protected from any major losses. If you depend on yourself and not govt your always a winner. If you depend on govt you are then desprate. and you know what they say "desprate breeds stupid" |

Then explain House bill requiring gun dealers to report to the federal government the serial number of all guns and all ammunition sold - and in addition, in two years, all citizens must report all weapons in household. |

Let's read HR 45 and see what you find objectionable: Blair Holt's Firearm Licensing and Record of Sale Act of 2009 To provide for the implementation of a system of licensing for purchasers of certain firearms and for a record of sale system for those firearms, and for other purposes. current 111st session of congress Other Bill Titles (2 more) Hide Other Bill Titles Official: To provide for the implementation of a system of licensing for purchasers of certain firearms and for a record of sale system for those firearms, and for other purposes. as introduced. Short: Blair Holt's Firearm Licensing and Record of Sale Act of 2009 as introduced. 1/6/2009--Introduced. Blair Holt's Firearm Licensing and Record of Sale Act of 2009 - Amends the Brady Handgun Violence Prevention Act to prohibit a person from possessing a firearm unless that person has been issued a firearm license under this Act or a state system certified under this Act and such license has not been invalidated or revoked. Prescribes license application, issuance, and renewal requirements. Prohibits transferring or receiving a qualifying firearm unless the recipient presents a valid firearms license, the license is verified, and the dealer records a tracking authorization number. Prescribes firearms transfer reporting and record keeping requirements. Directs the Attorney General to establish and maintain a federal record of sale system. Prohibits: (1) transferring a firearm to any person other than a licensee, unless the transfer is processed through a licensed dealer in accordance with national instant criminal background check system requirements, with exceptions; (2) a licensed manufacturer or dealer from failing to comply with reporting and record keeping requirements of this Act; (3) failing to report the loss or theft of the firearm to the Attorney General within 72 hours; (4) failing to report to the Attorney General an address change within 60 days; or (5) keeping a loaded firearm, or an unloaded firearm and ammunition for the firearm, knowingly or recklessly disregarding the risk that a child is capable of gaining access, if a child uses the firearm and causes death or serious bodily injury. Prescribes criminal penalties for violations of firearms provisions covered by this Act. Directs the Attorney General to: (1) establish and maintain a firearm injury information clearinghouse; (2) conduct continuing studies and investigations of firearm-related deaths and injuries; and (3) collect and maintain current production and sales figures of each licensed manufacturer. Authorizes the Attorney General to certify state firearm licensing or record of sale systems. Keep in mind the Bill is unlikely to pass, but really, what is the Bill's legislative intent? It would appear to be to keep firearms out of the hands of those who should not have them. |

Obama has a LOT more on his plate - he needs to implement his plan to seize total power ala Hugo Chavez. He is nothing but a dirty Chicago politician. White House has NOW seized control of the U.S. Census in order to redistrict in favor of Dems. Obama is a Muslim in sheep's clothing. Read this: Every peace loving American should be outraged by Obama's importing of these Hamas butchers: http://righttruth.typepad.com/right_truth/200... |
