There is news video out there that some news channel talked with inmates about gun control. The inmates said they wouldn't attempt to enter a home that they believed that there was someone home with a firearm.

To put it plain and simple Someone was to break into my home they will see what the end of a barrel looks like. In most aspects the owners of firearms and able to defend thier homes and lives are better off. With all the budget cuts you could call the police and they could make it to your home just in time to carry you out in a bodybag.
Most Police will advise you to get a CCW and learn to protect yourselves and your family. That is what I am going to do.

Plus it doesn't matter your skin color it is how you are raised. If there was such a fine line between disaplin( I can't spell hehe) and abuse, or if someone can define where this line is, people wouldn't be so scared to punish their children like they need to be. But then again if some parents spend more time with their children it would make a world of difference, but they can't do that because they are to tired at the end of the day from working so much to be able to afford things. Here we go back to the economy. Ah, to heck with it let's just throw the blame on the government.

1)Wyoming can spend nearly 100 million dollars on water supply improvements - but they can't find the $750,000 per year to restore the fire department and they can't find the $350,000 to restore to the police department.
2) All the city vehicles also need to be put under lock and key. Multiple employees are taking advantage of these vehicles and city paid gas.
3) The inspections department needs to crack down as well and get after all these rental houses that make the town look like garbage. Several in our neighborhood off of Clyde Park have not been inspected in years.
4) We warned the city of Wyoming that their new city hall, new police station, and extravagent park expenses would catch up with them. Some lack of budgeting never accounted for the fact that these buildings with lots of wasted space such as the police station costs more for maintenance.
5) Wyoming's Zoning Department is anti-business and is more concerned with adding more rules and enforcing existing ones - That is why companies like Nelson Metals went out of business. Look at all the fuss they created over the thrift store on 36th Street. They asked for neighbor's opinions and failed to record several that were submitted.
6) A survey needs to be released neighborhood by neighborhood in Wyoming detailing owner housing versus rental housing - Property exemptions need to be removed for rental housing - something that is not being reinforced.
7) Wyoming has tens of thousands of dollars in unpaid court fees that would result in being able to add officers and fire personnel.
8) Wyoming's center of the road gardening and expensive sprinkler system needs to be cut out. What does that cost anyways?
9) Public Works leaf and rubbish drop-off sight is abused by landscapers with multiple drop-offs dumping the cost onto the city. This was supposed to be for the general public, not to support our landscapers.
10) Why does Wyoming use a company in OHIO to collect their utility payments? Tell me - can no one really do that locally for less?
11) Wyoming had an option to get a bigger share of Rivertown Mall to expand the tax base and blew it big time.
12) Wyoming auctioned off the spare land along Gezon way too quickly allowing others to get rich at the expense of the city. Those private buyers who held onto the land are now selling it to medical providers for a mint.
13) Wyoming has a huge printing budget - with the Wyoming quarterly brochure with a letter from the mayor. Have you heard of email and electronically opting out of these expensive and wasterful mailings? 72,000
14)$200,000 for the cable tv commission? Where is this money going? Places like AT&T and other cable companies are killing each other for business. Can we say deregulation?
15)$457.000 rental per year for the court system? Why didn't the city have this built into the new city hall or police station?
16)Every budget of city department shows thousands and tens of thousands of dollars in equipment rental fees - what is this and why are we doing it
SPEND SOME TIME LOOKING AT THE BUDGET AND THE MONEY CAN BE FOUND.
14) City sidewalk plow? HUH? I grew up in Chicago and in the Blizzard Zone out west - never had it never needed it
15) Almost 5% of the city's budget is for debt and financing - it is time to refinance that while interest rates are low.
Gemini, Will you PLEASE be our next Mayor. I totally agree with you. My pet peeve is #10 too. I have been griping about that one since we moved here 5 years ago. Why can't they do the billing here instead of paying a billing company in Ohio? I am courious how much they pay for that. We drop our utility & taxes off at the city offices. And as far as #14 goes, they can quit the sidewalk snow plow anytime. All they do here is tear up some of the lawns. You are so right though.

What has changed in the last 10 years? 10-15 years ago, Wyoming was very whitebread, and crime was low.
In the last 10 years we've had a huge influx of hispanic immigrants, most of whom can't even speak English, and our crime has risen.
You do the math.
Well then the question is who is committing the crimes? We know that the K & K was hispanic, but what about the others? Not all of them were done by minorities.

My point is you cannot blame race, because to do so would be putting the blame on the minorities who live in the neighborhood who are not committing these crimes. This would not be right.

Gemini had many good points...but the sidewalk plowing is a dedicated millage paid by property owners passed years ago. So forget it!
I have lived here for 30 years and I have seen the Police department go from one of the best to one of the worst! If you live here-Wyoming- call and try to make a complaint about police service!
You will be put on the defensive from the person who answers the phone to the captain and to the chief. It is all our fault because we didn't pass a millage for more police.
Look at the Wyoming cop who was caught stealing a lic.plate from the Wyoming dept.. Was he placed under arrest!? Charged? NO! Says it all!

Gee, if a person doesn't have insurance, I wonder why that is?
Could it be that they can't afford it?
Put them away and throw away the key, those losers.
There, but for the grace of God, you you.
There, but for the grace of God, go you,not me. I will not drive without insurance. If people can pick and choose what laws they follow because they can't afford it, then I would choose to not pay my doctor bill, because I can't afford it, or not pay my son's medical bills, because, hey, I can't afford it. hmm.. I think I'll steal my next tank of gas, cause I can't afford it.(insert sarcasm here for the mouth-breathers) good luck dumbell

<quoted text>HOLY CRAP! Good Reporting! You mean white folk commit crime too?! Go away you racist biggot, your just as bad as the rest of them,
I am not a racist nor a biggot! I KNOW what its liked to be looked down on just because I am a minority. My point for posting what I posted was so many here felt that Hispanics do most of the crime. I honestly don't look at statistics so I cant say difinatively who does what. I was just showing that a white boy in a good area committed a crime...and no safe is really safe. I think the white kid is a thug just like I thnk the hispanic kids are thugs. It sickens me what these kids did. It's people like them that give us other Hispanics a bad name. If I wasn't so scared of guns I probably would carry one.
My point was stupid azz people are in every single ethnic background. Just a side note...I don't know when this story first broke but when I heard it it did give a description of 2 hispanic males. I don't pay attention to how often a good desription is put out. I think you are wrong for calling me such an ignorant name however you have your reasons for calling soemone you don't know that. Anyway...justice will come to those who wrong their fellow man.

Well I'll tell you what....I work all over GR a couple of nights per week, over-night. I carry a .40 cal S&W Sigma side arm and would not hesitate to shuck that thing to preserve my life or that of someone else.

The bleeding hearts can say that I am a bad person, but I am not....I am making sure that I am not victimized by the REAL bad persons.

Can you explain, then, why most of the countries that have tight gun controll laws have lower crime then we do?
Explain to me why states with CCW laws have lower crime rates than states without CCW laws?

When you take weapons out of the hands of law abiding citizens, you're giving criminals full access to everything. You might as well just leave all your possessions and your money at the curb and make it easy for them.

Exactly!

And in one particular county north of here, the sheriff told residents at a township meeting that if someone was on their property that wasn't supposed to be there, shoot to kill.

We as parents must teach our kids the meaning of respect of one another and about religion. Kids learn everything from home lets stand up and be acounted for as parents and stop putting the blame on society and race.Anybody can have a kid but. it takes a real parent to raise one.

the color isn't the issue. Its the gross negligence and lack of access to justice that allow criminals in minority communities to behave as they do. Pitting the ever growing populaces who are required to pay taxes without representation to remain silent under fear of consequence. The betterment of your family, with possible deportation, as opposed to the guaranteed poverty of their origin. Silence seems a small price. But ultimately they too pay, as they are 4 times more the likely the victims, without anyone to call for the crime.

Additionally as ballots were cast, the thought wasn't safety, or improving the area, the thought was not for the community but for the individual.
For the absence of increased taxation....

I have deep pity for the families who have suffered as victims of this increase in crime.
But I would go no further than next door in finding the true culprits. Selfishness has always destroyed community values and safety. To that I say people should have supported the police department, neighborhood watches, and volunteered in the schools.
Would have created the sense of community that the absence of used only to create destruction.

I stayed in Detroit for 51 yrs i had 2 houses broken into i am a victim of a carjacker once this crazy crime must come to a end.I am going to get my ccw because if the law won,t protect me then i will protect me and my family. If you don,t raise your child then he or she must be excluded from this society.People work to hard to try to make a living for their love ones and to have someone take your life for something that you worked over 26yrs for. Anybody can spit a kid out but it takes a real parent to raise one.

Also add to Wyoming's problems a police chief that supports lying officers. I had a problem and went to the police for help, they interviewed me, and were suppose to place in the report (that I asked them to do) that I wasnt happy with the satisfaction I was getting from a rude woman officer. That officer put in the report that I was a troublemaker and when I went to the chief pleading to removed this from the computer, he said " he stood behind his officer's decision" and wouldnt remove the report. They literally set me up so if an officer runs my plate in the future, they are more likely to pull me over or see me as a "bad person." because of what their computer says. I can honestly say to God above, that the officer was wrong to do this to me and the chief was too. I told the truth, they didnt, they were the ones that thought " we'll show this guy who's boss" and they will have to live with that the rest of their life that they weren't the officers we expect them to be. Now I know of at least two officers who didnt respect the people, and made things comfy for themselves only. What a future to look forward to concerning many cops.
