Personally, I feel Wyoming has let a lot of criminals know through the media that they are short staffed on police officers. The crime then goes up and they have statistics to receive more federal money for building the government bigger. The real problem lies with the justice system and the fact the punishment isn't severe enough for people committing robberies and other victim related crimes. The people on the streets arent afraid of just getting slapped on the hands, so they chance the crime. Why give the govt more tax money and nothing will really change other than the media in a few years publishing that crime has gone down in Wyoming to make it look like our tax dollars helped? In a few years, a police car is going to cost around 200,000 each. Think of our property taxes by then? Wyoming used to be a town where criminals were scared to even drive through. What happened to the cowboys? It certainly wasnt the lack of a few more police officers that is causing the crime to rise. I'm sure they want you to believe that's the reason though. I'd say it's higher up government that is to blame for lack of punishment and plus the people's kids that have grown up watching video games, coming from broken homes etc. dont fear the law. The school of choice kids leaving their own areas and not returning home after school. It all adds up. Imagine what the future will bring if we dont act quickly. I can just see the chief of police asking for more tax dollars, saying " it's either this millage passes or your safety in Wyoming is in jeopardy" Let's get this country back to some better standards, restore and bring back hope for everyone. Let the people decide. The govt doesnt seem to be working because the govt doesnt listen to the people anymore. When they did, the world was better and loved more by all. Return to the old ways. Why did they change things that werent broke? When I was a kid, you could trust the govt and those it hired.

How long before Wyoming becomes Grand Rapids....We will see when it stays warm and the thugs stay out all night causing problems. Glad I sold my sold there and moved seven years ago. Thought it was bad then but could see the writting on the wall -- its only going to get even worse.

Already happened; I grew up in Wyoming and back in the 70's and early 80's it was a great community. My folks saw the writing on the wall in the 90's and got out too.

What worries me the most here is that I have family that lives in Arbor Lake and that there was gun fire going on here. What if the gun fire was to of had a stray bullet it could have been worse than just chaseing after these fools who are stuck on stuid. Its not going to matter how many cops we have on or what the govrerment does as along as their are poeple out there stuck on stuid we will have these problems no matter if it be in a big city or a small town it only takes stuid...

Directly, yes, indirectly no. The politicians will always threaten to cut essential services because they know that most of the time people will pay the extra. I know Wyoming has some special millages for certain services, but they will never cut any non-essential services to save important jobs such as fire and police. And the citizens of Wyoming called their bluff. On the one hand I applaud them, on the other (safety) hand, it is really too bad.

I know several Wyoming FF's and feel for them. FOr the most part, they work their butt's off and run way more calls than most departments do for the size city they cover. And I hope and pray that none of them get hurt because the scumbag politicians that run Wyoming have to play their childish little game of who blinks first.

We could go into the whole revenue sharing thing too, but that's another, related topic.

Anyways, glad they caught one, shoot the other and save us some money.

My husband and I talk about this almost daily. My view is I'd like to get the heck out of dodge (wyoming)- his view is you can't run from it. Crime is everywhere, in every city and township in America. Maybe I have wishful thinking, maybe I'm just naive - but I tend to think that altho some crime is bound to be found most anywhere, Wyoming is becomming a lot like inner city area's.

Husband says you can't run forever. I say we wouldn't have to. He thinks I'm pipe dreaming.:-(

This will continue to happen, as long as these thugs know they will get a slap on the wrist
for years until they finally go to the Big House!

Poor things have never worked for a living, all they do is steal from people, like it is their given right!

As for shooting them, it would be nonstop, and look what the poor guy had to go through who was protecting his Photograpy business.

Getting so anytime there is apt housing complexes built, trouble soon arrives.

Time to change the laws, and get these jerks off the street, they are not worth saving, contrary to the tree huggers thoughts.

The real problem is that the criminals arent being punished enough. Word on the streets( especially among the Hispanic community) is that they can commit crimes and not get in much trouble for it. If you doubt me, go down to city hall and look at the large number of dockets for the day concerning crimes done by Hispanics and see what they receive for punishment. Most come out of the court laughing. There are so many crimes by Hispanics, but they just dont make it very public. One day I went down there, and there were like 15 hearings for that day alone with aggravated assault, cocaine charges etc. concerning Hispanic defendants and I thought... this is some pretty serious stuff, why havent I read about any of this in the paper? But yet if they are black or white, they receive ample punishment to make them think twice about doing something wrong again. It's just not fair. I am not biased, I just like to see everyone treated fairly and what I see is not fairness. It's no wonder some of the black people feel badly. I'm sure they hear the same stories. Discrimination amongst blacks is worse than it has been in years. These people need some pride and hope restored in their lives. Start doing for them what you are doing for the Hispanic community.

I feel the economy has a lot to do with this. It is not only happening in Wyoming. There was a story on this morning about a teen in Jenison that assulted a security guard...Granted with a pop bottle but, Assult is Assult. Wyoming still has very good areas Just like Grand Rapids still has some really good areas. If you are involved in your community instead of hiding behind locked doors that will help.

Agreed! I live in Wyoming, and at times, my husband works out of state. He bought me a shotgun for Christmas, and it is loaded next to my bed. Obvioulsy the cops are squeezed for people, I dont want to be waiting for someone to take care of me if I am alone. I will take care of it myself!(side note: the shotgun is used for Hunting also, not just because I live where I do!)

Come on Rick....the black community has had so much help through the years. Most of these young black men have been paid for time and time again by the taxpayers.

Maybe too much was done for them and society has crippled them? This attitude of the black community is owed for some reason needs to stop.

Also the seems that there is no family structure in the black community. More kids mean more money to a lot of them.

Just gets to be old after awhile of hearing how they justify the crime and condone it.

As for the Hispanic community, seems that quite a few of them work more then the black comminity.

Some cities in FL publish the court dockets each week, don't know if that puts a dent in the crime down there or not.

he didn't use his car, it was a stolen car which was reported earlier that day.
