This town used to be good-Good businesses, good people, a good place to live and raise kids. Now I am just about convinced of the opposite. There is only one good business left and that is Bridgmart Meats. The rest are pretty much dead. The kids seem to find the bad things of the big city just as easy in this little town as they would in a larger city. As far as the people go-most are about as good as you'll find on the planet, but the few bad ones we have really made it miserable around here. I hoped I would never say this, but it is time to face reality. Things are too far gone, and you can blame me as much as anybody.

I know a few people that live in your town. My deadbeat ex-husband, his white trash wife and her sex offender son. Sounds like a great place to live to me......

Anybody named Seth Springer must be a hick from a hick town. There is actually a mental illness called North Dakota Catatonia from people living too far from each other.

My husband's family is originally from Hankinson, though his great-grandfather was born in Lidgerwood. His grandparents moved out here to California after the Great Depression to start an auto repair business, which did well. He still has family in North Dakota, cousins who own and run a small hardware store called Satermo's. Even as young adults, we never felt comfortable here "out west" and long to return to North Dakota, specifically Lidgerwood, our "home". I know the grass always looks greener on the other side of the fence, but at least for my husband and me, your town has more going for it than any place out here. Yes, we are an hour away from the beach, the mountains, and the deserts, but when you throw in the callousness, the disrespect, the crime, the smog, the traffic, the graffiti, the apathy, and the commercialism that permeates everything you see, it's just a superficial version of hell. We can't wait to get out of here and get to know real people again. Sorry for taking up so much space.

Can't be enough going on to stimulate someone with just average intelligence and creativity in all of No Dak.

Where would I go to discuss Walter Piston and Howard Hanson symphonies in Hankinson? The sex-on-the-counter bar?:)

Not completely dead. Sometimes people fornicate in the Spare Time bar.

You may be fortunate to see them fornicate.
