Something about previous owner not paying taxes on the liquor license ? Damn ,I pay a lot in taxes how come others can go years without paying ? I thought that's what jails are for ? It's not right to the rest of us who do !!! It's a shame it was starting to look nice again ! Where's the IRS when you need them ????

Hard to beleive someone elses failure to pay taxes is the new owners problem. Shame on the PLCB and the state for making Hanna & Axel Inc's failure someone elses burden. The obviously spent a lot of money on the property and are paying a mortgage and property taxes on a business that is generating no income. It's not right.

My understanding is the Riverfront is still waiting on final licensing and certifications type stuff (i.e. PLCB, etc.) I believe the current target date for having all of the legalities and such taken care of and being able to open for business is early to mid-July 2009.

When is the place going to finally be open? I can't believe the hoops these people must have to jumping through. Sad,I guess if they had huge pockets like a Ruby Tuesday or some other big chain they would have all the nessesary permits and licenses by now.

Place is looking good, girls !!!!! Could someone please move that camper !!!! What a eye soar !!! I thought those things couldn't be stored on the street ??? If you can't afford to store it somewhere ? Maybe it's time to let it go !!! How on earth are they going to be able to get delivery's or trash pick up ? Shouldn't that location be a fire lane or delivery zone ????

Last news I heard was that the interior construction is still ongoing and that the new target date for opening is probably Sept.

wcspots, I seriously doubt the new owners have anything to do with the camper. That probably wasn't something that was included in the sale of the property especially since it's parked on the road, not the physical lot. Have you tried running around the corner to the local police dept and asking them to do something? I would hope they could get it removed, especially if the tags or inspection have expired. Who knows, maybe it was something that was stolen by the previous owners and just dumped there. Either way, please don't consider that thing a part of the "new" Riverfront or blame the new owners. You should be able to tell just by looking in the windows of the place that the new owners are trying to build a much better place for people to gather in Wrightsville.

So does anybody read this stuff? It's September now. These girls must have a pile of money to keep paying on this place and have no income generating from it. Any update on an opening?

Riverfront Bar and Lounge WILL open! I have spoken with the girls after stopping in to ask about employment. The owner reported that there are still a few legalities to go through concerning the PLCB, but that she hopes to open soon. She was a very warm person who invited me in to take a quick peak. The place looks wonderful. They must have spent a fortune. I have seen the old Dutchman and let me tell you this place doesnt even come close to resembling that shit hole. She had also mentioned how frustrating it has been without generating any sort of income. I wish her luck with her new business. She seems to have some refreshing ideas to increase tourists in the area. Can't wait to sit down and have a draft and some great food!!!!

I sure hope Cretia0587 isn't waiting for the place to open to get a job. You'll go broke or your UE benefits will run out before it opens!
no fun yet

I here that the one owner was busted this summer DUI and drug. It will be real hard to get past the LCB with that.

Yes, I am waiting for them to open to get a job!!! But no fun yet...I haven't heard that at all. The two ladies i spoke with barely seemed the type and neither mentioned this to me??? I guess they wouldn't but ok so one of them got busted...there is at least one more owner that they could easily transfer the license too. I am sticking with the actual conversation i had with them, it will open as soon as the license is clear from delinquent taxes and suspensions, anyone who knew the previous owners would agree this is probably the case!!!
