10 charged in sweep; meth, heroin, cocaine seized

just thought i would comment on the drug sweep. Great for VW police for trying to get the drugs off the streets and I know that nobody is perfect. But they really should keep things in a tighter nit sence someone tip off a few and hope that since you hit the house and you didn't find anything this time doesn't mean you don't go back, cause they do have stuff in there.

This isn't about getting drugs off the streets...if they really wanted to do that they would go after the main dealers. There were no large amounts found amongst any of them. It was the typical drug sting! They busted someone and struck a deal to catch a few more, that is how our revenue is kept up in VW.

Another drug bust has already been taking place since yesterday, Friday. Can't wait to see who is on the list this time. Rumor has it, anywhere from 20-29 people will be arrested.

Good job? All these police seem to be able to do on here is bust low level drug pushers. Where is the big names? Where is the weight? Hiding behind a badge or a gavel IMO.

Heroin in VW is out of control. The citizens of VW need to really read the paper and grasp what it is saying. A man was arrested for selling Heroin to undercover agents 3 times. One time can be a death sentence, so why would you let him go to sell more. Do you know how many deaths and overdoses have occured in your town in the recent months? Your kids are ignorant to the lasting affects of this drug, but the main dealers dont care. They dont use it because they know it will kill you sooner or later. Open Your Eyes !

Let me first qualify my provocative statement by saying that heroin use can be reasonably safe, if used in a smart manner. Heroin in itself seems to pose no real health problems, even when it is used for long periods of time. G. Dimijian in "Contemporary Drug Abuse" (in Medical Pharmacology: Principles and Concepts ed. A. Goth, p. 299) describes an 84-yr old physician who had been a morphine addict for 60 years and seemed to have no mental or physical problems from the addiction. In general, it seems that middle-class heroin/morphine addicts are no less healthy than the general population (see D. Musto and M. Ramos (1981) "Follow-up Study of the New England Morphine Maintenance Clinic of 1920," New Eng J Med 308(30): p. 1075-76; J. Ball and J. Urbaitis (1970) "Absence of Major Medical Complications among Chronic Opiate Addicts" in The Epidemiology of Opiate Addiction in the United States (eds J. Ball and C. Chambers), p. 301-6.) There may be some problems associated with long-term controlled use of H, but they aren't well documented and they are certainly not comparable to those associated with either tobacco or alcohol.

So where do the health problems of heroin come from? Primarily from the use of needles, the presence of adulterants in the drug, the poor nutrition and health care associated with the hard core addict life-style; and the violence associated with said life-style.

Do you really believe that drugs have never been a problem in this town before? And do you really believe that the people selling Heroin in town are not using it themselves? Come on now. No big supplier of any drug of abuse has EVER been busted in a Van Wert drug sweep. They are ALWAYS the middle men. The guys who are just selling to other addicts to support their own habit. Why is that? Good question...If you really start to look into it all you will start to see that our little town of Van Wert seems to be a tad corrupt.
Drugs are in every corner of the world as they will continue to be. Every one seems to be so worried about people selling drugs to other adults but no one bitches nearll that much about all the sex offenders living in Van Wert. Or all the alcoholics and drunk drivers. Those people pose more of a threat. Idiots...this town is full of them.

As you said...NO BIG SUPPLIER has ever been busted locally...gotta ask the question...WHY? We get a drug bust, one of the middlemen strikes a deal to roll over on one of their friends/competitors and the cycle continues. Ever ask the real question as to how the dealer that is actually bringing it into VW doesn't get caught?
I have lived in VW for over 20 years and there has been a drug problem as long as I have lived here.

Your right NAN and it makes one wonder who exactly are the big name suppliers and why have they not been busted? I have ideas that sound a lot like conspiracy theories but also sound like they could be true. The more this goes on the more I am beginning to think there may be some corruption in the county. No way do I believe that the cops have no clue as to who is bringing in the weight.
