Saw this operation on the history channel once. It is in an old mine. They have all of these trays of dirt they sprinle spore on and harvest the mushrooms about every 3 weeks. Pretty cool.

Maybe they should diversify into those other types of mushrooms that the kids like so much.

All the hungry people in the world and the mushroom farm cannot find a market? All the commercial soup makers in the world and the farm still cannot find a market for the product? The only people who will be laid off are the ones that actually pick the product.....and nobody in the marketing end of the business.

I think people still love their mushrooms, but it is the ridiculously high prices that grocery chains charge that is the problem. I for one love fresh mushrooms, but I will not pay $2.99 for 8 oz. So, I use canned ( just an OK substitute ) which I can get for 50 cents.
