Worth days should be self supporting

In looking into the festivals of other villages and municipalities, you will find that charging an entrance fee is purely beneficial. The event takes on a family atmosphere and there are far less problems and issues that necessitate intervention. This brings in more attendance down the road than not charging. I would prefer seeing the residents mailed coupons before going back to the way it was.

Also consider the funds raised are going to better your village. A lot of people donate a lot of their time because of this cause. It's worth something to the community that Worth Days is the safest and most entertaining event it can be.

thanks for pointing out i'm clueless. how much has the village hemorrhaged to worth days since taking it over, earlier this decade?

Its hard to get a straight answer from anyone about that and we may not ever know

tax payer, if you are so smart, ask the village clerk instead of a forum. the clerk has the records and was in charge for the last whatever years. from what i remember this was a problem for the last few. doesnt seem reight that people that do not attend are paying. I don't go fests anyhow but I sure dont want to be paying for them.

back in the Bilder and before years, the fest was organized by a committee separate from the village or park district. the members got old and disbanded. if you remember the worth pool was owned by a similar bond holder(s) type entity.

since taking the fest over, it has been a money maker for the village, primary the beer tent. I don't know the specifics for this year however as attendance was down from years past. i don't think worth days would stick around if it were not a money maker.

If those who want tax dollars to pay for worth days why dont they just write a big fat check to the fest if there in a big hurry to part with thier money
