Kasich hopes budget plan impresses bond raters

For the past two days, Gov. John Kasich has told rooms full of Ohio business professionals and local-government officials about his proposals to privatize some state prisons, the liquor department and economic development. Full Story

Kasuch's Budget Director,(Tim "Keen) was interviewed on local news outlets this morning and asked to explain Kasich's budget. His reply was, "I can't....it's TOO complicated," after which the former Republican budget directors under both Taft AND Voinivich said that if a budger was "too complicated to explain," then it was NOT a good budget. They then said that Kasich's budget simply shifted amounts from one column to another, and that Kasich's intention to shift the burden to local governments would be "disastrous for the majority of Ohio municipalities."

Kasich is a Wall Street rear sniffing Lap dog. His TRUE MASTERS!
And a traitor against the Constitutions Gold and Silver legal Tender along with them.
Only the State of Ohio can determine Legal Tender in Ohio under Article One section 8 and 10.
You are either a Genuine Patriot defending the Constitutions metal or a traitor that serves the asymmetric warfare trap Al Qaida set, and Bushs Wall Street Banker friends all fell for so lustily to jack up the war debt.
Wall Street Fiat specie is the Spirit of the Anti Christ beloved by money mongers since the day they murdered jesus for overturning their Religious Savings and Loans.
Be bonded by H*LL Mr Wall Street guvnor.
Go complain to the Catholic Bishop if you dont agree. He's Your fellow theocrat.

Let's see...

1. Kasich's budget doesn't control spending, but actually increases spending from current levels. Even the radical, right-wing tea-party group Buckeye Institute has criticized his budget for this reason;

2. Kasich's budget will force local communities and schools to raise taxes significantly or else lay off workers, driving up the unemployment rate in Ohio. This in spite of the fact that the unemployment rate in Ohio went down for the last 10 months of Strickland's administration, showing recovery from the Bush-era recession of 2007-2009;

3. Kasich's budget will result in fewer students attending college and/or more students taking on additional debt, since it allows colleges to raise tuition by 3.5%. This after several years of no tuition increases because Strickland's budgets supported higher education, which resulted in phenomenal growth in college enrollment in Ohio;

4. Kasich's budget would funnel money away from public schools and toward charter schools, where it costs more than twice as much to educate a student (and which have a 46% rate of failure on state report cards);

5. Kasich has demonstrated he's willing to needlessly spend Ohio taxpayer money, such as giving over $8,000,000 to Bob Evans Restaurants to allow them to move from the south side of Columbus to New Albany, under the guise of "saving jobs";

6. Kasich's budget significantly cuts support for children's hospitals, for families and agencies that support children with disabilities, for mental health facilities - basically for any person or agency that helps people - while increasing spending on staff salaries and on charter schools (46% of which received failing grades on state report cards). The inevitable result: more family debt, more home foreclosures, more people living on the streets (with and without mental health issues);

7. Kasich's budget uses one-time money to balance the budget (e.g., the sale of prisons), and has discussed other options that would result in one-time money to help balance the budget (e.g., selling the rights to operate toll highways, liquor agencies, Ohio lottery). Basically, Kasich is simply kicking the can down the road;

8. Kasich has shown an igorance of Ohio laws, a willingness to knowingly break Ohio laws, and a pattern of deception to Ohioans, yet is now going to ask bond rating agencies to "trust him";

Regardless of whether Kasich is able to provide a snow job to these bond rating agencies or not, his divisive, arrogant, bull-in-a-china-shop approach to virtually every initiative has Ohioans more divided than ever, and is going to hurt middle class Ohioans.

Everytime he opens his mouth there is more to bash!

I enjoyed the "...if this works...." comment! Does he think he's still at Lehman Bros?

Everyone seems to have forgotten that he did and what a disaster it turned out to be for Ohio's public pension funds. Ooops, my apologies, everyone but the Gov.

I beg to differ, the public thinks if we revert back to the tax rates prior to Bush, we would not have the debt we have now. Reverting back to the higher bracket would bring in 70 Billion a year. The deficit is 1.4 trillion, do the math.

Let's go back to the reported federal tax rates under Eisenhower of 90% for the wealthiest, this may include politicians like our own governor Kasich.

Let's role back the 21% tax cuts enacted under Governor Taft, this would leave out of state blog tormentors free and clear.

That 90% rate did not generate much. The code had so many write offs that the wealthy paid little. Go ahead and raise it back, watch more investment leave.

All these three ratings agency had secret illegal deals with Kasich's former employer Lehman Brothers. They rated the junk NINJA mortagage backed securities with an AAA rating despite the fact they were extremely risking. The rating agencies of course received some sort of kick back from Lehman. This smells really bad to me.

It doesn't really sound like Kasich's plan is impressing anyone...including all the people who have lost his jobs because of him:

WALL STREET;
OH, Now there's the answer...
Borrow MORE money that you can't pay back,
Now there's the answer...

And the nutcase right goes on and on and on...
When the real the fact is that The Nutcase Right Has NO Answer.
The nutcase right has Only and offers Only a bleak future and more debt for Y-O-U.

Start with their current steal from the working poor to give more to the mega-rich agenda;
Add on their "Property Rights over Citizens Rights" solutions;
Add on their radical right wing wealth transfer hi-jackings that insure cheap wages for you and higher profits and more economic and political control for them...

Right Wing Bottom Line Is;
Steal It All From From The Poor and Give To The Rich
Which All Equals "He Who Has The Gold Makes The Rules",
And Their Plan Amounts To "Control All The Gold"...
The Gold That Would Not Exist With Out Working Class Labor and Work...

Typical of a Wall Street exec looking to borrow money against non-existent income. Tell me how is he going to pay back these bonds by selling-off the states 2 profit making agencies (Lottery & Liquor) and eliminating income taxes?

Tell me when this thread is updated:
