Jimmy's and Sooks has opened to good crowds at dinnertime and at night.Amanda Bramble and her staff have done a wonderful job. Great desserts! There seems to be a lot of foot traffic between there and Canvasback so they help each other. As for Snappers it's crowds have fallen off slightly,it is kind of out of the new downtown restaurant loop. The wiil do better in the summer when the Tiki Bar opens. They really could use a facelift and improvements inside.Portside, tragically has fallen off alot.No one is better loved around town than Marcia and Bill Christopher and staff. The menu doesn't change but they have no incentive to do so.The building is an insult to the public and it is not ther fault. It has almost not been touched since Dave Nickerson and Bill Creighton remodeled it in the early 80's.The deck is nice but the rest of the buiding needs to be guted. The bar needs to be moved downstairs where it can be easily accessible to boaters. Then the upstairs and deck can be made a dining room with a family atmospher away from the bar. Many people judge a restaurants cleaniness by the bathrooms because it gives a hint on the cleanliness of the kitchen. Portside bathrooms are horrible. It is time for Chuck Hughes to put a lot of money in it which he may not be able to do or sell it to someone wealthier and cash out. What a waste of a prime location.

1 They believe he wanted them to break the law and give illegal licenses to people of his choosing. When they refused he entered a bill in the senate, with out approval of the county, to replace them with a board of his choosing. Seems his way illegal aliens can get a license there. All they have to do is pay a local to put their name on the license. If Colburn gets his way many feel even Bin Laden can have a liquor store in Dorchester County. There's really much more to this story. |

The US Attorney General HAS been notified as of recent weeks about the political goings on in Cambridge, and Dorchester County in General. There are many illegal (according to state code) Liquor license that exist in the county. No one seems to know how some places recieved a license, and why some stil have one.

4godncountry,I'm not doubting you personally, but why would the US attorney general investigate A Maryland State code violation. The investigation and possible prosecution would be up to State's attorney Bill Jones or at the highest the Maryland Attorney General's office. There very well could be irregularities per Federal authorities only come in when Federal law is broken.Thank you for alerting the blogging community to this and everyone keep us informed. The press is not good at this.

Amanda has been convicted of many crimes as she growing up nobody knew who Amanda was till you went to eat in there for a night or two. Cambridge got little bit more lamer as we let everybody do what they want to that town! Who is gonna stand up and say stop your bullshit? I dont know what you mean by "Im glad ur tying hard" you mean -trying?

Just now reading comments. Hopefully you and your family have returned to J&S since this posting. The owner works round the clock to ensure a positive and pleasent dining experience for all her patrons. I have personally been in there and witnessed her addressing customer needs.

Ha. You obviously don't know Amanda very well, do you?
Convicted of "many" crimes. Unless you consisder playing in the band, getting staright As, perfoming with a competition Cheerleading squad and playing field hockey a crime, yup she's guilty. It's people like you who bring good people down.

Well,no matter, Jimmy and Sooks are doing a wonderful business and Amanda is considered a home town hero for the food, drinks and entertainment. She also has a good staff. So it can't be that bad. Downtown Cambridge even though it is not perfect is actually safer than the area around Walmart and Superfresh where they have more robberies. Still Cambridge has much less crime than in Salisbury which has amoung the highest crime rates in the nation. So everything is relative.

You are Sooooooooo right Rich. I totally agree and am thankful that Cambridge finally has somewhere decent to go. The bartenders, waitstaff and patrons are great people who contribute much to Cambridge. When and wherelse has NBC gone in Cambridge to do a special??? With that being said, and all on her own? Good lord. Amazing. It really is a shame that some of the people in the town of Cambridge can't let others thrive. Thank you for seeing the sane side. ;)
