Woodward Football

Let's see, we have a hard time competing so why don't we schedule a Class 1A Texas school and assure ourselves of a victory during the 2008 season. LMAO 55-16 Canadian over Class 4A Woodward.
This is the same logical thinkers that ran scared from playing Clinton a few years ago.
Might try some local 8 man teams or some Texas 6 man teams. Of course Woodward can still use 11 men!

Not sure who you are or why you feel the need to post something like this, but your attitude is exactly why that Woodward has had trouble competing in the past. What you failed to mention was that Canadian was the defending state champion and favored by many to repeat. Texas football is much different than in Oklahoma for a lot of reasons. Committment to sacrifice for the greater end result, full time football coaches who don't have to teach, etc. But the real reason they exceed us is that they have community support and the kids expect to win and are willing to do whatever it takes to do that. Coach Jones and his staff are doing some great things to get Woodward back to having some traditions other than good floats in the homecoming parades. All of our kids are playing all four quarters instead of giving up in the face of adversity like in the past. With fans like you, who needs enemies. Instead of posting a classless post anonymously, why not come help one of the groups that is trying to figure out how to get our local kids involved in ways that they are willing to sacrifice and become more productive citizens instead of only putting out minimal effort in whatever they do to get by. We have some challenges in this community and the blame is not all on the kids. Grow up and do something instead of sitting on the sidelines and critizing what every else is trying to do.

How the rest of the season turns out. There is something very different about this team from those of the past several years. They play hard until the very last play of the game. Not sure exactly what player you are talking about..hand off to the same kid who doesn't produce? Have you been to any games this year? If anything, the coaches are spreading it around more than ever and every so often find a combination that will work. So far their opponents have a combined record of 8-2. With the exception of the Canadian game, they had a shot of winning both the others even late in the game. If they come out strong and don't give up chunks early, they will have some success against much weaker opponents in district play.

you know if you can talk so much smack on us then come to woodward and say it to our faces instead of saying it online!!!

First of all i want to say.. the things that are on this blog about the players and coaches is not true. they have worked there butts off this year and will keep doing so the rest of the season. the person that could not say there name on here it must be for a reason. who they play they have no choice but i can tell you this they are up for a challenge, who doesnt want a challenge? everyone loses but really they learn from those experiences and mistakes and achieve more. Everyone that is involved with the program have done an amazing job included the football players. so stop with the smack talking if you have no idea what the boomers have been through, and as for woodward people just think, we must be doing something right if people are talking about the boomers!!!!!:D

Okay,First having a coach tell your kid they played like ----.The verbal part that coach Knoblock is doing is not positive.Two kids are ready to walk off the team.Oh wait, if they lose tonight they better be ready to run all day Saturday.Treat the kids with respect thats the problem.Yelling, until your blue in the face at the kids.Is not the answer thats the problem with boomer football.

the current woodward boomer football team is very promising just to tell you guys. They have potintial to cary the boomers in three or four years if they all stick with the sport. their 2008 record was 7-1 and that one loss was to their rival clinton in overtime by 2 points. they are on their way to a tremendous season next year with almost all the starters coming back except one offensive linemen thats moving away.

I suspect I know more about Texas High School Football than any of you guys. It was not my intention last year to denigrate the players in any way.

I know the mindset some years back when Woodward chicken shitted out of playing Clinton due to the annual ass whuppin back then. It was the same mindset that led the "powers that be" to schedule Canadian.

They knew Canadian was a good class 1A Texas school, but never in a million years did the "powers that be" expect to get drilled. They expected a win. If anything, the 'powers that be" underestimated that particular opponent.

I sincerely wish Woodward good luck this year. Good to see Woodward and Clinton playing again. That series should have never been allowed to go dormant. Go Boomers.

Woodward held Class 1A Canadian to 141 Rushing yards and 298 passing yards

Canadian is a very small town with a very small high school enrollment compared to Woodward. How can a 'big' Oklahoma 4A school be dominated so badly as Woodward has the last 2 years?

Woodward will likely drop Canadian like it did Clinton some years back because it just cannot COMPETE. Who would blame them?

By the way, score and stats were closer this year, so maybe, just maybe, Woodward is improving!

Some small schools focus intently on one sport and are therefore dominant. Larger schools are more diversified and do not pour all their talents into one sport.

Hey, if that makes you feel better, go with it! There is really not a lot you can say about a large 4A school getting drilled by a little ol' class A school!

Maybe Woodward could just puff up and say we ain't playin' em no more like they did Clinton some years back because they just couldn't compete.

Wow!!! I am amazed at the lack of support for the Boomer team. Yes they lost to a "little ol' class A school" but come on. Show a little support. I am a Canadian fan and let me tell you, Woodward will not be the only school with at least twice our enrollment that we will beat. Our first three opponents were all larger schools. We will play Perryton in two weeks. It has been several years since they have beaten Canadian. Just because a school is smaller does not mean you should automatically whack them. If the support displayed by a few of these posts is fairly common in Woodward no wonder these kids struggle. I guarantee if the entire community will get behind these kids and support them win or lose you will eventually see positive results. Good Luck the rest of the season.

THANK YOU! What can people expect when they use every opportunity to run down the team? It doesn't matter the size of the school district, what matters is the skill, determination, and on any given night- the luck, of the players on the field.

A Class 4A school anywhere SHOULD NOT be playing a Class 1A school anywhere. To schedule such, and get DRILLED, could in NO WAY boost the confidence or morale of any player. Up or down a class is ok.

Whoever put the Woodward players in this situation should be ashamed of themselves. Twist it, spin it, put it however and by whoever, for Woodward to get their a**es kicked by a little ol' Class 1A Texas school, no matter how good, should not happen.

By the way, congrats on beating Deer Creek. Maybe the kids can over come the position the administration and coaches put them in.
