The media does not have a love affair with Obama. They are - wisely - simply paying a lot of attention to a historically highly significant politician and presidential candidate. Whether you like him or not, or agree or not with his platform, no one can deny that an African American being possibly the next American president is a major historical event.
Also - his life is an open book, literally. If you want to know about who Obama is, why don't you read one of his several memoirs.
