I like that "several brushes with the law". Is this guy a habitual offender or does he work for Fuller Brush?

Was he on parole?

I don't know what his defense attorney has to work with since he called dispatch and told them that he had just killed his landlord. He was lucid enough to make that call, so I'm sure he was lucid enough to stab Mr. Campos several times after dragging him back into the residence .... Hum, can't wait to see how the scumbag attorney will defend this jerk!

Keith Campos was a heroin addict. Who knows how he may have provoked the defendent. Two rights don't make a wrong or whatever the saying is. But the defendent will be punished and Melvin still deserves his day in court. This is ridiculous let the man rest in peace. Melvin was mentally ill and the neighbors said that they had a violent relationship. It could very well have a different outcome. Okay, yes he did kill him and a man is dead, but who attacked who. Melvin is not a violent type of person, he's very quite and passive. The court may let him go with an insanity plea...Whose to say how the outcome will be in this case. Stop bashing him

already.
Stop bashing him? he killed a friend. I hope Melvin sees the same fate my self. hope that doesn't sound to bad but Keith was trying to help him and Melvin Kkilled him

Not habitual and Parole is granted only to those leaving incarceration from the California Dept of Corrections and Rehabilitation. These would be those returning to society after a Prison stint, he was not in Prison.

Yes but that is sometimes the result of a wobbler, I guess. Never been that lucky and if someone along time ago would have told me they were doing a paper commitment I would have ran fast.

This is too much for both families to deal with at this time. I'm Melvin's sister and I understand what he did was wrong. All I want is for him to be given a fair trial. I understand the victims family is grieving and it's a horrible crime. But some of the truth is left out and it should be known. Melvin was not using "meth" at the time of this crime. He's not blaming it on drugs and he's taking responsibility for his actions. Please respect our family. The things people write are hurtful to our family. It is so overwhelming for us to have to live with. Try to be understanding during this difficult time.

Let it go...I saw your other post about Melvin being attacked first, etc. and I find it very interesting, and it seems to make a little more sense than what is being reported..I knew both Melvin and Keith...and the story that is being reported just doesn't add up or make sense. I wish I could talk to you more about this in private...

Murder is a violent crime and it's very sad when it happens. But can youimagine if it were your brother or sister who commited the murder? Can you imagine how that it feels to have to sort this all out and try to make sense of it all? It's just a little bit too much. We are sorry for the loss of Andrews life. Once again It's under investigation. And believe me when I say it's the making for a "really bad day" for Melvin's family. Please respect our privacy at this time...Thank you.

Andrew was not helping Melvin. WTF...He had Melvin doing some unthinkable things so that he could get drugs and when Melvin finally had enough they fought and Melvin being the tough guy that he is "overpowered" that jerk...How can Andrew be made out to be this innocent person. He drove Melvin to his breaking point. If I would have known what was going on there in that mad house I would have given him money myself to move the hell out of that hellhole. Believe me when I tell you your not getting all of the facts to this story. And yes I know what was going on there. If you think that I'm wrong then so be it maybe I am the lowest of low for stating the facts about the victim. I said it and I will say it again I'm sorry he died, but he was no saint. He was a junky! Melvin couldn't have afforded to leave this situation and probably felt that he had no other way then to kill Andrew. He took advantage of a mentally ill man, and he finally snapped under the pressure. Apparently you didn't see the craigslist post for his room. Or did you? A human being can only take so much and eventually they are broken. This is the sad outcome of being driven to the edge. I can't justify what happened, but I can state some of the facts that the media is not stating...In all fairness Andrew was remembered as this sweet guy that most of the people remembered from high school, before he was a drug addicted junky and if the situation for Andrew was so bad why didn't he just give Melvin a 30 day notice like any other civil landlord would have done and left it at that. As his landlord he could have handled this differently.

I knew Keith and his family 20 - 25 years ago, then lost touch, and then would see him around town and at parties in the mid 90's. Sadly, you could see the path he was taking, but really, what can you do? I do not know for sure what he did, or what led up to this, but it doesn't shock me. I would say post #15 is probably(sadly), an accurate picture of the man Keith was at the time of his murder.

BD, the severity of the offense is not at issue -- It does not matter whether or not a crime is a straight felony or a 'wobbler.' A paper commit is a sanction [to parole] when a defendant is sentenced. You may find an example helpful. When a person is sentenced following a felony conviction and the court orders a paper commitment the defendant does not enter a CDCR institution to serve time. He is immediately placed on parole, for the number of months ordered e.g., 16 months etc.. Hope that helps.

This is a very sad situation, but sometimes the truth is not what the public wants to hear.

The news doesn't always have the entire story. It gets updates an then new columns are printed. As the story unfolds and people come forward with new information it takes on the twists and turns as it occurs. The investigators don't give enough information. Keep reading and this story will change as the facts are reported.

Seriously? Junkie? Jerk? WTF is wrong with you? There are 2 people that have been ruined here, and hundreds that have been forever affected by this. I am a friend of Keith's, and this has been absolutely horrible for me, as well as others. Please try to refrain from bashing either of them in this. They both had problems....who doesn't? I am at a loss for words in regards to losing my friend, and I am equally saddened for Melvin. The whole thing is screwed. Please try to have some respect for the deceased and his family and friends, as well as for Melvin and his family and friends. The last thing that any of us needs in this is name calling and bashing of either of them. All it is doing is fanning the flames of anger, hatred, and hostility. There's been enough of that. Don't you think?

Daily Horoscope for December 18

Cancer

You'll be happiest when you're with people who make you feel loved and cherished. You'll bend over backwards to keep them sweet, and will concede arguments and disputes for the sake of peace. Try not to make it peace at any price because that could be setting up problems with people who will then try to take advantage of your good nature. Co-operation is one thing, being a doormat is quite different.
