Tobacco is more of a Schedule One than cannabis and in fact test after test has proven it. Scientific evidence has never been so blatantly disregarded by not just one person but masses, so why?

Are you an idiot? A financial meltdown is exactly why you should legalize it for medicinal use. Taxation, revenue, etc. Leave the right wing and see TRUTH. There are ways to make this country better, and they dont involve old beliefs.

Politicians are too weak spined to do this on their own. They want someone else to fall on their sword. And these guys are the best we can vote into office?

Valid medicinal value, it’s a victimless crime, the War on Drugs WAY too costly, too many arrests for simple possession, tax it and use the money to pay for health insurance and to reduce the deficit…Need I say more?

Woodstock Universe supports legalization of Marijuana for a number of reasons. Check them out and vote in our poll "Should marijuana be legalized?" at http://woodstockuniverse.com

Current poll results: 96% for legalization and 4% opposed…add your vote. Poll runs through October.

I have reduced my Healthcare costs by at least 85% by using medical marijuana including reducing ER visits from 10/year to 0in the last 10 years. Medical marijuana can contain Healthcare costs.

This is a great thing. For far too long there has been a "Reefer Madness" mentality in Illinois and elsewhere. It's time we acknowledeg the good it can do. And use it safely.

Legalize it and tax it.. There are to many people dependant on pills and alcohol. Prohibition of marijuana only adds to this epidemic..
I don't think I've ever heard of a marijuana intervention or someone having to go to rehab. because of marijuana use. Unless they were forced to by a judge or had to do it to cover there butt
for whatever reason, meaning they were forced to go to rehab.
It is pathetically obvious that alcohol intoxication is considerably worse than marijuana intoxication. A majority of calls that police officers have to respond to are alcohol relate.
It could be a fight, a car crash, stumbling into someones house you don't even know, making and arse out of yourself at the company party, etc.
Does marijuana do any of these things? NO it does not.
If medical marijuana does get passed in Illinois, those of us with medical mar. cards should be exempt from being tested for pot if givin a random drug test. If you lose your job because of a random and it's for marijuana and you have a med. card for, that would be BS.
There has to be some job protection involved or it won't help at all. People will lose there jobs that they did so well. And in this economy, that would be devasitating.

With Obama in office, expect Illinois to legalize "blunts only"!

We all know black people think cigar wrappers hide the smell of pot.

Makes it taste pretty bad too!
They cant legalize it

They cannot legalize it because:

1) Pot has seeds which enables anyone to grow it. Imagine beer having seeds in a can. Coffee won't grow well and peanuts take too much room or people would grow them and avoid taxes.

2) Good quality pot does not have seeds but is also difficult to grow with being pollinated.(which causes seeds) It's reported that govt. pot is crap!

3) There are hundreds of strands of pot and to find one that doesn't warp your mind but eases your pain would be difficult to keep from cross-pollinating.

4) The govt. already makes lots of money with forfeiting cars, boats and homes of people who get caught with pot. Why do they need to get into the business?

Scary isn't it? Seems that we don't even understand our own Substance Control Act - 812.B.3 States, "The State of current scientific knowledge regarding the drug or other substance", 812.B.5 States, "The scope, duration, and significance of abuse, and 812.B.6... "What, if any, risk there is to public health"
And so... The swiss have found that it actually PROMOTES the growth of neurons in the brain - the basis for intelligence, Spain has used it to cure 3 forms of very agressive brain cancer, and Dr. Tashkin, as commisioned by the father of the Drug War (Ronald Reagan) found that there is ZERO, no link whatsoever to lung cancer. I could go on and on... pathetic. CAM

Alcohol and tobacco kill.

Why do we make criminals out of people using something less harmfull than legal alternatives?

It's ridiculous and a waste of government resources.

Why do those who have a budget that depends on enforcement of Marijuana always the most vocal against any sort of legalization?

I am a RN-BSN and also on several schedule narcotics d/t severe pain from chronic arthritis since age 5. I also have fibromyalgia and degenerative disk disease, all very painful. I have had gastric bypass and lost 399+#'s so I also deal with nausea. I want my life back if medical marijuana can help alleviate some pain/nausea allowing me to be free of some or all the narcotics then I am all for it!!! I would love to work again. Illinois needs this.

I wonder if Ron Brooks has ever heard of LEAP, Law Enforcement Against Prohibition, with a membership of 12,000 strong. I thought 'any' cop would tell me that Mr. Brooks baseless fear mongering is true, but I've asked several LEAP members and all told me it's nothing but abject idiocy to continue the failed policy of prohibition.

I'm sure there are ER doctors, nurses, etc that disagree with Mr. Brooks fallacious appeal to authority. Mr. Brooks must have a very low opinion of the intelligence of his fellow man seeing that he has the nerve to promote such an imbecilic, untrue argument. But then again nobody ever went broke underestimating the intelligence of the American public.

It is so rediculous that we even have marijuana illegal in the first place. We teach our children that Marijuana is on the same level and just as harmful as drugs such as heroine, cocaine, and methamphetamines.

As soon as a kids realize that they were lied to about marijuana and it isn't as bad as we said it was, they assume that we lied about all the other drugs. We need to teach kids the truth about drugs so they can go in to the world informed about these drugs.

What is the worse that can happen if we legalize medical marijuana? The rest of the healthy people will get ahold of it and be walking around hungry and happy? Wouldn't want that to happen now would we....

Ever heard of Penn & Teller Bullshit show? They have one about marijuana-all should read it!
