Im not sure how coward applies there.
You're both out of your minds.
The actual death occurring from pills is not slow. The opiates effect the respiratory centers of the brain, effectively "halting" the passing of the message that someone needs to breath.
Even then, it's usually teamed with alcohol or something similar causing the junkie to vomit. That, combined with the slowed respiratory response makes them choke to death on their own vomit. Not slow, probably not even aware.
If you're referring to the decline in social awareness and interaction which usually teams up with an addict, one can draw their own conclusions. I don't really agree with the "Dr" there, but addiction is not instantaneous. There is a conscious decision made at some point that the addict would rather choose to do the "vice" rathe than take responsibility for their own life. I'm not arguing the physiological addiction, merely saying that there IS a point that it's still a choice before it becomes a need.
It's that moment of decision which makes me agree with Dr feel good that it's just a junkie so what does it matter?

That person that is "just a junkie" is someones brother, sister, father, mother, son, daughter ect... I am fortunate enought that my brother is 9 years clean and sober. He says that he is and always will be addicted to Opiates, but he fought the demon. some people are just not strong enough. The coward comes in, because like so many people in our society today you can easily just say, its just a junkie, well at some point someone has to reach there hand out and offer a leg up, if that person chooses not to accept it, then at least you know you have done your best. But most people ignore it. Lets get one thing straight though, Drugs do not discrimate, wealth, poverty, race, religion... it happens everywhere...

You have no right to call us cowards because of our beliefs. A lack of self control is weakness. And as stated, I recognize the physiologic dependence. Where they have no choice but to chase the dragon, But it's not instant. When that person chooses the pills, drugs, whatever vice, over common sense prior to it becoming an actual physiologic need, they become a junkie. That's where the respect, and empathy dies.
I'm entitled to my opinion, as is dr. Feelgood. And for these people who make that CHOICE, I feel nothing.
