If it works in other states why not here, most of the time cops are not even paying attention.
Theres no reason flaggers cant be used on back roads and slower streets. |

I would like to know what these flaggers are getting paid per hour and what benefits they are getting.
Honestly if they are getting paid close to what the cops were getting factoring in the benefits, I say they should have left the details to the cops. If it is a big money saver for the state then I can understand them going with flaggers. |
The flaggers get 1/2 of what the police officers are making on a detail. And I would like to say what went down in Woburn yesterday on the Mass Hwy construction site was horrible. The flaggers were trying to do there jobs but the local police caused alot of problems and they were out of line. They were breaking the law themselves and those cops should have been arrested.

I went down rte 4 the other day in Bedford and the cop had his backed turned to traffic and was BS'n with the workers!
How much can a flagger make? Not really a high skilled job. A lot of Mass Staties make well over $100K/year |

Most of the time the police are not paying attention and a lot of times there are more than 1 cop standing doing nothing.I agree those cops should have been arrested they are worried that there money for doing nothing is coming to an end. They get unbelievable amounts of money for doing police details that most times the police detail money is more than there base pay.Flaggers work in every other state I have driven in quite a few states that have them and never seen any problem. How many times has anyone every seen a cop stopping a crime while on a police detail.
I agree 100% if that was you or I we would have been arested , if being disruptive , the cops are not above the law , of are they !!! |
Of course they are going to fight it they will be losing alot of money. They know what they have and will fight and fight along time to keep it and probably win. Police have one of the largest strongest leading unions across America I'm almost sure we won't see any flaggers anytime soon.
...then you should have called the WHAAAAAMBULANCE on them cops! lol (they were a disgrace and put the public in danger) |
ummmmmm did you watch the news yesterday? There IS flaggers! |
There was a picture in another newspaper of a flagger. He was wearing a reflective vest, holding a large sign and appeared to be paying attention. Most of the cops on detail have a cell phone in thier ear or a cup of coffee in thier hand while directing traffic. Some are just in the car, or talking to the workers.
All in all the flaggers appear to be doing a proffesional job. The safety issues are kind of a joke. |

Cops can always take the late night details at Santoro's in Lowell if they want some extra money. Flagmen will not be taking away their details at bars and other establishments.

I watched the Woburn story as well and they wonder why people shoot at them. One of those idiots started driving down the road the wrong way saying "the flagger told me to do it." Yea I am sure the flagger told you to drive down a one way road because it is such a difficult job to do so we must have an overpaid cop with a hard on for overtime do it. Then they started yelling at the flaggers saying someone ran a stop sign what are they going to do. They are supposed to do anything you dumb pig they are flaggers. They don't put police officers at details to give tickets when was the last time you saw a police officer on a detail chasing down someone to give them a ticket for something. The answer is never because they are to busy screwing around on their cell phones to pull their heads out of their asses.
....and how many times has a cop told you to go when it wasnt safe? I almost got killed up in Nashua one time cuz of that. Either that or you sit there for 5 minutes til they notice you & tell you to go, then wave their hand for you to slow down when you go by, lol |
I just read that the flaggers in boston are getting paid $34.85 an hour, the police were getting paid $40.00.
Officials said at first the flaggers would be drawn from employees already working for the state who would be retrained and equipped with flags and orange safety vests. |

Good point...but the Santoros detail involves doing actual work, not just standing around. |
That car that was driving the wrong way by the police officer you saw on the news looked like a unmarked police car to me. I hope to god that they didn't use a police car to try to make a point. Thats seems very illegal and if that was a police car he should be fired right away |

Seeing that on the news was terrible, they where acting like idots.
I also saw the flagmen had two way radios, how bad must they feel, just trying to do there job. |

Flaggers in other states get minium wages.Let's start there. . Take people on welfare and let them do part-time.
I am hearing the flaggers in Mass are getting paid anywhere from $16.00 all the way to $37.55 an hour. What is the wage? Anyone know?
Shame on all of them. I lost some respect for police officers yesterday.
The thin blue line just got a lot thinner. They are getting closer to the crooks instead of the public who they took a oath to serve and protect. The almighty dollar and greed is the only thing that motivates us anymore. |
