The bridge work on I-275 and all the E/W crossovers is sniffling. Sometimes I run into too many other people using the bike path and dirt road around my lake when I run each morning. Worst of all, the Dollar Tree is out of the 3-pack Cracker Jack that I have been addicted to. I have my freezer dialed way down so home made smoothies are problematic. However, I left my front door unlocked all day long yesterday and nobody walked in.

Good luck Blue Cross Employee's as you begin paying City of Detroit income taxes. Be forwarned ... if they owe you a refund at the end of the year it usually takes a couple of years to recieve it.
Anyway ... Blue Cross dont do anything for policy holders anyway unless they are dying, so who the frick cares if you gotta work in the ghetto. Your big shots and public officials are just moving you fro a money making scam anyway prolly ... but its good PR. Like people really want to work down there ... lol.
Morons!

Detroit is just like any other city and as we all know minorities flock to them to live in harmony with big city life, it's no different here than any where else if you were to look at Cincinatti or Memphis or other hubs it's all the same welcome to America !

If you only want to talk about minority crime in a city here then you may want to take a closer look at the city of Inkster at the moment ? This city has a higher crime rate than all others but most of it goes unreported. Most of the cites now face budget problems in this state and things are spiraling out of control somewhat to the point it can't all be brought to our attention everything that is happening so go about your day as if all is well !

You may want to ponder the thought that our country can implode as the job resources are depleted and our leaders want us to start all over....this is where we are today ?

I am not sure about Blue Cross, but most of these companies moving employees to Detroit are compensating them for the increase in taxes. Sometimes they even pay a bonus. Consider it like hazardous duty pay. Then they add more perks to keep them happy. Employees rarely experience the worst of the city. They all drive newer vehicles and have cell phones for emergencies. Life is good as a Blue Cross employee in Detroit.

As your personal fact checker, what you said is all true. City Data reports the average USA crime index at 319 for 2010. DEtroit had a crime index of 879 and Inkster was close at 790. However, Inkster murders were 43/100,000 and Detroit only(?) 34/100,000. Rapes were 45/100,000 in Detroit and 130/100,000 in Inkster. When it comes to major crime, Inkster is setting a high bar and gets little pub for it. Mostly what we hear is about city corruption and judges buying clothes out of their budgets.

It is what it is don't expect much from the democrats or republicans in this election cycle, the global economy is falling in on our heads, unfair trade practices will doom us all if things don't change the next four years !
