If there is a horse or two that needs a home I live on 206 acres he in texas. i could give two a nice home. I already have horses of my own and they are well taken care of. even a nice pony that would love to have a home with loving children to look after her or him.

I went by Blevins Valley and saw 2 horses in mud and no grass. the neighbors, said, they have reported it so many times to Jr White (animal warren) no return calls. the sheriff want do nothing. I reported it to Humane Society and they called back, and got the horses hay and one lady bought grain and corn out of her pocket. They are wanting to get them, out of the mud, the owner don't care, it has to be done legally. The owner has 3 families , living in dumps on the land. I went there again, and it was horrible. They are all on Welfare. The poor horses and children that live there.

My Step-dad just accepted two horses from the humane society. The poor things were left alone to starve when their owners decided to move.

I am from Canada and I just bought 2 pregnant mares from a D(wayne) Adams in West Liberty, KY. The mares arrived here both pregnant and are walking skeletons. I am not sure how they survived the 2500 mile journey but I am thankful they did. The vets at West Liberty vet clinic were instumental in assisting me in getting the mares home. Call them if you need a wonderful vet! Please if someone sees the rest of the horses at Dwayne Adam's ranch and they are in as bad shape as these poor girls, call the Humane Society as there is so little I can do from Canada. All the best.

D. Boone Are the horses still there today? Why don't someone just go let them out then maybe someone would do something. Have you called the police?

But I heard the horse slaughter business has boomed again and everyone is trying to get horses because there is a lot of money in it. Which I think is SICK. I own three horses that I love so much and I would never give them away and the only way I would sell them is if I could not fead them and they were starving.

they took the horse slaughters out of ky, since then the population has grown to big because unwanted horses are not being sold. horse prices have hit rock bottom since everyone has one or two that arn't broke and bred in their fields. Since there is no real punishment for the starvation and abuse of a horse it is easier to keep them and let them starve rather than sell them, because the horse will only bring $50.00 at the stock yards and it might cost $20.00 to sell it, so there is no incentive to get rid of the poor horse. I think the horse slaughter needs to be brought back to control the population of horses....please don't think I am insensative, I have 22 myself and all are well taken care of, shoed, fat and happy and ridden on a regular basis. I rescued 5 myself this winter, but knew I couldn't take on any more or run the risk of running out of hay. Its the same with dogs and cats, if no home can be found for them after a reasonable time then they need to be put out of their missery if no one is going to take care of them. We need to get tougher penalties for people who mistreat them also so that there is more insentive for people to seek out proper care for these horses.

This is a sick matter that no official likes to address. They won't do anything about the horses becuase if they take them in, they're just going to have to take care of them. No one has the money to take the needed care for them anymore. Most people say a horse is malnurished because you can see their rib cage. When in fact you are supposed to see it a little.

Oh, and to kymomof2, i stronly disagree with you that horse slaughters need to be brought back to Kentucky. Kentucky is known for horses as we all know. Just because some heartless bastards out there can't take care of what they brought upon themselves, doesn't mean that they need to be put down. Thats like saying, "i can't feed my kids anymore, so lets just kill them." All things were created equal by god, correct? Well than why aren't they treated as such? They all have the right to live; it's not their fault that their owner won't love and feed them. But i do agree that the punishment should be higher. This is outragious. People abuse animals and all they get is a slap on the hand.
