Son of Johnson sheriff charged with trafficking

It is about time KSP did something about the Sheriff's son, since his Daddy will not do anything. This CRAP has been going on for years in Johnson County and Bill Witten, and other Johnson County officers have looked the other way, because he was the Sheriff's son. What amazes me is Bill Witten's statements to the Press and Media. Acting as if he knew nothing of Hoy's Drug Addiction that he has had for years. Or that Hoy was saleing drugs and trafficking. How could he NOT know? The FBI should look into the NON-ACTION of the Johnson County Sheriff's Department, and why they turned there heads for so long. They have known for YEARS the Sheriff's son has been a DANGER to our community and DID NOTHING!

I have to differ with you on the issue of Sherrif Whitten knowingly let his son get by with "CRAP". My understanding is that his son has also been in rehab and like any parent he wished his grown son would change and go in another direction.... Like the Sherrif stated this problem has encroached his family like it has so many in the county. So many good familes are being torn apart by drug abuse all across this country and NOT just Johnson County, KY. So in your pointing fingers in a accusatory way does it help this young man or help others who need help. I also do not think any one is ignoring the drug problem here in the county is just overwhelming.

It truly does not matter that you are in law enforment, lawyer, doctor or pastor with a fine reputation that you should be held accountable for what your grown children do. I pray the Whitten family can help their son change his life around and get this matter behind them.

I have to agree with Homemaker,you do the best you can do with your children,This is a major problem everywhere,children are getting on these drugs and sometime can't get off,my Prayers go to his Mom & Dad,I was taught never judge anyone,this could to anyones,and to any family member,so remember that before you judge!....Drugs don't care if you are ,rich,poor,old,young,I pray for him that he finds help.Don't be to quick to judge

Does anyone remember the days when the sheriff's office closed down at 5pm on weekdays and closed on the weekends? Well that was the way it was till Sheriff Witten took office. I honor the deputys that paid so little to put themselves in danger to do what they do to keep us safer in our homes. I too hope Mr Witten and his family finds peace in this personal matter. Drugs knows no boundry and very few families can escape it these days.

Bill Witten has not been a good sheriff. He has hired drug addicts, thieves and thugs to work in his office. He goes nowhere alone and acts like he is a President. If he is such a great sheriff then how many of his arrests are actually prosecuted? I have family that work in the courthouse and they cringe everytime they see him or one of his hinchmen come in. The KSP didn't get him. It was the feds. KSP is not going to go after one of their own good old boys. I hope that the feds get witnesses so that he will be fired on the spot!

I work in the court house and that is not true. Sheriff Witten has the utmost respect of the employees there. Not sure in what capacity your family works there but it sounds like sour grapes. Sheriff Witten does not have anything to do with the prosecution of any arrests his department or the Kentucky State Police. Its up to the Judges.

Sorry you feel that way. I wonder if you would put your life on the line for such small wages as our Johnson County Deputies do. These guys are well trained and do a excellent job. Without them I wonder how quick you could get someone to your house if your family is attacked if they were not on the job. First Let me say I am proud to say i have never drank or drug and if you feel this way makes me wonder if there is a reason?maybe your a deputy?are kin to one of them?you need to face the facts Johnson co.is known for speed trap and you can't even walk down the road,and let me tell you I live real close to 3 deputy's and they do not impress me in no way,as for my family well I got the protection I need,and it's not a bunch thats in this county.that being said I do like sheriff whitten I think he is a great man.

If you are that concerned with the deputies that you know there is a rememdy. You talk to the County Judge Daniels. He is a very fair man and will not look the other way if you have real proof of your charges. I do think its sour grapes on your part and look how you say you have a bunch not in this county for protection. You made yourself sound like a thug yourself.

As far as me being kin, nope not true, a deputy nope not at all. I am a female who works with the judicial system everyday and see first hand the job our law enforcement does. I am thankful they are out there 24 7.

the deputies make small wages but the big money comes on the side.I used to work with a guy that was a deputy on the side he said he never had to buy cigaretes or beer as long as he was a deputy.now think about that .

You need to put yourself in sheriff place,Don't judge...would you want to be judge??ask yourself... Am I perfect...No one is!!!!there's only one thing we are all born with and is the same as all...See if you can guess what that is?

You cant always blame the Parents .......But it sounds like maybe this young man may have a chance at life again after he gets out of trouble . It may have saved his life. My moto is every thing happens for a reason.

I think what he is trying to say is "his buddy" was or is a Crooked Cop he took people's things ...he stold them, did not file them in proper storage. iam guessing.......... don't quote me on that.

I wonder if that bunch had anything to do with the meth lab bust in Painstville that put a daycare that was located right next to the lab, in danger. As a result my innocent cousin, Karen Sue Flint (Vanhoose) died.

What bunch is that? I think the people who were involved with that were arrested.

We live in Pike Co & know based on family members who live down there but 'Sheriff' Witten didn't know? No he shouldn't be responsible for what his son does/did but he should be held responsible for what he knowingly ignored...

Anyone remember Chris Morris (Charles Morris's son, our past coroner) & what happened with him...Not because his father turned his head but because of his name & relationship, the local government did nothing. And their inaction resulted in the loss of life. He had so many previous arrests & nothing was done until he fucked up so bad they couldn't just sweep it under the carpet...
