Agree or not, moral laws do protect people, your family included.
Forcing women to have babies is about as immoral as you can get.

OCD hit on a great point in the last post. Laws and "morality".

Laws in this country should do two things: 1) protect the liberties of us the people, and 2) provide for the common good of the people (the later can be debated, the 1st cannot). The moment you start legislating "morals" you open up a huge box owned by Pandora (sadly we've already opened it, we just keep lifting the lid higher and higher).

Our founding fathers wrote long and hard that legislators, public servants, politicians, and bureaucrats should have no power over a man's "conscience" aka morals. Those belonged solely to the individual to decide for themselves.

Think about it, the moment you open up morality to legislation is the moment you open up your own morality to public opinion. If the majority wants to out law what you think is moral or to force you to do what is immoral then are lost.

Let's take a simple case, something that should be so black and white and so easy to legislate a "moral". Killing.

Is it immoral to kill? What if you are a soldier or a police officer? In self defense? Death Penalty? A total pacifist would say yes its immoral in all cases. A more pragmatic person might say all are moral except the death penalty. Others may say the death penalty is moral.

What should are laws do in this case? The answer is simple, protect the rights of the people. I have a right to life, so killing me is illegal. However if I attack you or undertake a capital offense I could forfeit my right to life and legally be killed. Morality never comes into the picture and it never should, because whose morals are you going to chose?

Now if I can make a gray morass out of something so simple as killing imagine the massive grayness of these other so-called "family values"?

Lastly, stopping abortions, shutting down nudie bars, and stopping domestic partners from getting benefits does nothing to protect the rights of any living citizen of this country. But it has a lot of trying to legislate the morals of one group over others.

Evidently you do live on your own little island. Especially when you call programs to help your niece 'stupid'.

to quote you " The answer is simple, protect the rights of the people. I have a right to life, so killing me is illegal."

You have a right to life but you don't think babies in the mother's womb do? You want someone to protect you, but not innocent babies!!!!! How unselfish of you!

I can usually discuss about anything with anyone, but your finite selfish mind....I have nothing else to say to....except....I pray God give you a heart for others besides yourself.

To all those who do care, here are the stats on abortion:

48,589,993
Total Abortions since 1973

"And God said, Let us make man in our own image, in our likeness,... So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him, male and female created he them." - Genesis 1:26a & 27

Every human life that is conceived is a miracle and a gift from God. But, oh, how heartbreaking that thousands of these little miracles of God are being destroyed every day.

Since abortion was made legal in 1973, 35 years ago, over 48 million pre-born babies have been violently destroyed; have been denied the most basic of all rights, the right to life. Our Declaration of Independence calls this an unalienable right.

To break down that number, here is what it would look like;

Michigan has a population of 10,120,860. All of the people in Michigan would be wiped out.
Wisconsin has a population of 5,536,201. All of the people in Wisconsin would be wiped out.
Minnesota has a population of 5,132,799. All of the people in Minnesota would be wiped out.
Iowa has a population of 2,966,334. All of the people in Iowa would be wiped out.
North Dakota has a population of 636,677. All of the people of North Dakota would be wiped out.
South Dakota has a population of 775,933. All of the people of South Dakota would be wiped out.
Nebraska has a population of 1,758,787. All of the people in Nebraska would be wiped out.
Kansas has a population of 2,744,687. All of the people in Kansas would be wiped out.
Oklahoma has a population of 3,547,884. All of the people in Oklahoma would be wiped out.
Nevada has a population of 2,414,807. All the people of Nevada would be wiped out.
New Mexico has a population of 1,928,630. All the people of New Mexico would be wiped out.
Montana has a population of 935,670. All of the people of Montana would be wiped out.
Wyoming has a population of 509,294. All of the people of Wyoming would be wiped out.
Colorado has a population of 4,665,177. All of the people of Colorado would be wiped out.
Idaho has a population of 1,429,096. All of the people of Idaho would be wiped out.
Utah has a population of 2,469,585. All of the people in Utah would be wiped out.
That totals 48,589,993. Can you imagine all of these states without one person in them?

That is approximately how many little pre-born babies, created in God's image, have been killed since 1973.

The numbers they quote on abortions are pulled right out of the ... air.

John from NC is right.

Ask an anti-women's right nut what they'd to women who have abortions, if they were illegal. Death penalty? Life in jail? They never know.

Here's a radical idea - MIND YOUR OWN BUSINESS!

I don't particulary like the Rebel Flag, but if my neighbor wants to fly it his front yard, it ain't my business.

Oh yes ... let us rebuff all morality and the laws against immoral behavior.
Let us start with John ... How about you volunteering your neighborhood where streetwalkers may practice their business?
No harm in just sex ... right? Just the religeous right enforcing morality ... right?
So let's move the prostitutes in front of your house... for starters.
That will bring the drug dealers with them ... but no problem there ... right? Just people hurting their own bodies ... right? No need for morality to be down on drug abusers ... So let's move them to in front of your house as well.

Patch,
These 3 laws do nothing to protect my family, nada, zilch, nothing. Quit pretending like they do.
Here are some true pro-family laws I would love to see get passed, can you get behind these instead of silly things like nudie bars and trying to discriminate against domestic partners?
#1:
End the stupid over seas wars immediately and bring back our husbands, fathers, sons, wifes, mothers, and daughters so they can be with their families and effectively exercise their job of protecting our home land instead of protecting foreign land and oil fields for rich oil barons.
#2:
Mandatory 4 day 32 hour work week for all workers so we have more time to spend with our families and loved ones.
#3:
Mandatory and inexpensive health care for all people, especially families with children.
#4:
Fuel and food subsidies for the poorest families to help them offset ever growing fuel and food costs.
#5:
Mandatory minimum 2 week paid vacation for all full time employees so they can spend some quality time with their families.
#6:
Mandatory 3 month paternity and maternity paid leave for both parents when a child is born and 1 month paid leave for all immediate family members when a loved one dies.
#7:
Inexpensive and subsidized child care for those parents who both have to work.
Now these are some true "pro-family" issues I can get behind all the way. Because on my island these are the things that families (mine included) are dealing with everyday. Not if someone goes to a nudie bar, gets an abortion, or if some domestic partners are getting benefits. None of these 3 laws you propose do a damn thing to protect my family only your ideological dogma.
Let's quit making families chose between:
* Serving their country and serving their family
* Providing for their family or being there when they need them most
* Buying medication or putting food on the table
Actually what we have here are some very Clear Marxist policies.

Please view this video.

Barack Obama voted 3 times against a bill.
This bill would force drs to help babies born alive rather than put them in the waste pile, left to die a slow agonizing death.
