Has anyone else been molested at the health department (during a pap smear)? This is a serious discussion, please respond if you feel like you were violated. If you don't know what happens during a pap, youtube it. There shouldn't be continous penetration at any point. I know that I'm not the first, although I may be the first to step forward. Please help me!

Please help me! if this is going on, it needs to be reported. Usually, during a pap, there at least 2 nurses present. I would hope they wouldn't have allowed that to go on, but you never know in this day and age. I'd say call a hotline or something and explain to them what happened and then go from there.•hugs•

If they had to take a biopsy of cells on your cervix, you will be opened longer. It will stay inside you, but not moved. If they fncked you with their instruments that's a different story.

Also, why is it that they when they do a pap on you they want to know how many people you have been with? The gyno doesn't ask you that, why do they? When I got married they insisted on uping my number... hello I didn't have sex and then save myself for marriage! I just don't like that their is some kind of record of my sex life and it is not even accurate. Am I the only one who thinks this is weird and an invasion of privacy? That happened to me years ago though and I just go to a doctor now. The health department also insisted on keeping me on a pill that gave me blood clots and then when I had to be prescribed a medication that superficially raised my blood pressure they refused to let me have the pill. They are not actually concerned with health at all there. I would advise anyone who can to see a real medical doctor for real medical care. For the person who started this post, I know my story may not be the same thing but I am sorry if they have done something to you. Aside from just being disrespectful and rude to patients (which they are) this is just wrong. I wish you the best and hope this doesn't keep you from seeking the quality medical care that you deserve in the future. Paps, although necessary, feel like such a miserable and degrading experience already that no one should have to endure mistreatment from any staff in any form during the process.

Well for the ones referring to people being cheap apparently you must have Medicaid and run to the dr when you get a fart crossways. Health care is expensive and when you don't make a lot of money you have to go where you can afford it. I don't have insurance anymore and I have to go to stone mountain clinic. Coming on here name calling is uncalled. Someone has a true problem and is looking for others that have may have been hurt as well. To the orginial poster please report the issue to the proper authorities. Best wishes

I made nearly $14 an hour with no insurance before I was laid off. I do have medicaid right now, I've earned it I've worked hard for 10 years and my sons father is dead. But guess what when I was a teenager I went to the health dept. bad exp. they suck. I go to most of my Dr. visits at least 30 miles away from home on my medicaid because I've earned it and deserve it!

The Health Dept is a government owned & operated health care facility. They were probably inquiring about your sexual partners for governmental statistics or simply to know WHAT to test you for, should you test positive for a STI they may possibly ask you for a detailed list of sexual partners so that THEY can be contacted and get testing & treatment as well. I have been asked that question numerous times depending on the concerns I had not only at the health dept but at a regular gynecologist as well, SOME HPV infections are contingent on the number of sexual partners and since the HPV virus is on the human skin at all times it is easily contracted during intercourse. I'm not quite sure what you are talking about when you say they "uped" your number of sexual partners & then go on to say that "you didnt have sex and then save yourself for marriage", If the number went up then you weren"t "saving" yourself. If you are embarrassed in the number of sexual partners you have had, then maybe saying the number aloud MAY have hit upon a nerve. As for the initial topic of this thread, there are some gynecological exams that require a longer testing process.I know that a PAP is an uncomfortable and (depending on your age) sometimes quite embarrassing procedure but one that is necessary to a woman's health.

The doctors are very rude & hateful. Just because they give you free paps, birth control, etc. doesnt give them the right to treat people like trash. If they hate their job than they shouldnt have chose it in the first place.

I beg your pardon you can have a penis and get medicaid too if you have children. Oh yeah you can also get food stamps if you have a penis as well. Again I have no problem with my taxes going to those who have worked hard and are just going throgh a rough patch. I don't like it when ppl who don't have a thing wrong with them get assistance. But if you truly want to be fair not everyone is riding the system!

to a certain degree I agree with happy.... Seems most women make a career out of spreading their legs & giving birth to children that we tax payers must then pay to raise for at least 18 years, unfortunately it runs in families so that by the time the girl children are old enough to breed (usually around 14 - 15) they will continue the tradition by having 4 or 5 and so on & so on.... not to mention that most welfare mom's will figure out someway to sign their children up on SSI

Well if you must know, I had been with 2 people and 2 people is what they had on file, so when I told them I had gotten married, they scratched out 2 and put 3. As if my husband was a new person. I never said that I saved myself for marriage. And if you already know that a pap is not comfortable then you should explain to a patient when a procedure is going to take an unusually long amount of time or explain why the procedure is different. You don't just leave them laying there exposed. That is just common courtesy! You must work at the health department judging from your inaccurate medical knowledge and defensive tone. You question my reputation, when you have had several concerns where you felt necessary to include your number of partners? And in response to other posters, I agree. Health care is expensive. I went to the health department when I was 18, married, and working 2 jobs to put myself through college because I had no insurance, no medicaid, and no assistance. I have never had any children and I have never received any form of welfare. I paid for birth control pills there, although cheap, they were not free! I have to commend any lady who would put herself through the awful experience of going to the health department for care, just to keep from becoming a cheap slut on medicaid with a dozen kids at the pediatrian's office!

I don't mind my tax dollars paying for paps and birth control. It beats paying crackheads to breed and feed and spread their seed.
And "need to know" - could you please explain to me what an "STI" is?
I think a lot of doctors (and in the case of the health dept) nurses are not explaining what exactly it is that they are doing down there. Wouldn't it help if they made sure that they explain the procedure everytime just as they do with all other procedures?
