Potsdam is already destroyed judging by some of the nonsensical perversities that go on around here.

Nevertheless, Walmart is just the sign over the warehouse that sells junk made by slave workers from COMMUNIST CHINA. Folks and teabaggers around here should stop wasting their time badgering welfare chiselers and aim their viatrol at the the rich bums that have sold us and our jobs out to the RED CHINESE. That is what is destroying Amerika.

have you seen the bags and boxes and plastic crap strewn in the once pristine wetlands between Walmart and Potsdam?
Do you see the birds lining up on the wires confused because the place they have been migrating to for thousands of yrs for breeding and refuge is now replaced with concrete and illuminated, singing plastic deer heads?
Have you bought produce at walmart and had it rot by the next day in your fridge? They employees are rude most of them look like they need a shower. Only people dumber than dirt would put up with working there. Part time hours stretched over a 6 day span..no diversion allowed. I seriously hope Walmart fails and fails big time. Turn it into a skating rink ..or better yet PUT THE DAMN WET LANDS BACK.

Ah, I love NY Govt and its "hire and fire at will" mentality. No right to work at a decent wage with medical and dental and retirement benefits. these exist only for the "chosen people." China owns the US, and the US govt loves it.

You people are probably the same ones that would b*tch if Walmart left and cut the 100+ jobs that it has created. You talk about their products being made in china yet your the type of people that wear your Nike's that were made in Asia. Walmart is not doing any more damage than the Lowes on 56 or any of the dealerships in town.

I work for Wally, and I can say that we are pressured all the time to work off the clock by supervisors, and threatened with lowered hours or termination. NY is a hire and fire at will state. We never get full time hours or receive anything close to a benefits package. We are pressured to go to Canton DSS and apply for whatever benefits the county or state provides. Workers at Wally are poor, and our families are poor; there's no chance for advancement; working conditions suck, and the pay is minimum wage. Carlfused sounds like a combination of Glenn Beck, Rush Limbaugh, and Hannity--jerks.

I am not saying Walmart is the perfect situation by any means. However with the economy the way it is you should be glad to even have a job. I have heard many many stories about Walmart and I am sure most of them are true however many people rely on what little pay Walmart provides to feed their families. If Walmart was not here you would be asking DSS for help anyhow.

Lowes and the dealerships are pretty much the same thing. SELL SELL SELL or hit the road.

23 hours a week with another 8 hours off the clock. yep, im lucky all right. the govt does not care about the poor. it uses us, and lets Wally use us. if Wally finds out who I am, I get threatened or lose my welfare job. Wally equals perpetual poverty for its 23 hours a week workers. Wally has been this way for decades; this worker situation did not happen yesterday or just after Obama took office. play that one on Beck, Hannity, and Limbaugh

We just got word, our jobs are on the chopping block; looks like unemployment insurance for most if not all of us. I just don't understand how a grocery chain, an essential business, can go under with the federal food stamp program eligibility rules. Our country is in dire straits when so many people are eligible for food stamps--food insecurity indeed. I'll have to go to Canton to sign up for food stamps, TANF, and medical assistance. My family lost coverage, and the COBRA payments are well beyond me. NYS DOL says it could be 18 months before I find another job. This is bullcrap and something has to give. Too much corporate greed and too much corruption in govt got us where we are now. People knew about this 6 months ago, but did not tell anyone. we're screwed.

did you se the Walmart photo op in the Advance News on the 29th; they donated $250 tfor school supplies, and expect the public to be over joyed with this token gesture. what about 40 hour work weeks for your employees, and what about not forceing your employees to work off the clock? what a bunch of huge phonies. The newspaper should be ashamed for allowing that photo in on Sunday. Walmart is attempting to counter the negative opinions and ultimately the negative perceptions formed by anyone reading this thread. Good luck trying Wally---You suck

I used to work at walmart part time bc I have 3 kids; I lost my "welfare" job bc I refused to work off the clock for the bastards. I saw the photo; it makes me mad to see them play with people who don't know what's going on. right at xmas too.

To be fair though, I work at a Sam's Club and we are NEVER EVER pressured to work off the clock. There is something called the open door policy and it works just like it should. If you are threatened with termination, know your rights. You aren't allowed to be fired for the hell of it. If you feel you are being mistreated, get a lawyer and sue the fluck out of Wal-Mart it's been done before and if they don't clean up their act it will be done again. You have show them who has the real power. The people.
