murder in 1970's or early 1980'

the families have been through alot, and we dont want to see our story on LMN. It's for us to tell, Not just people who knew a little bit!

I spent summers on the Phillips' rice farm. I was best friends with their granddaughter. After 30+ years, this still hurts. Please repect the Phillips family and their privacy.

I am trying to find some information on a murder of a 6-7 year old girl that happened around 1982-1984 and it happened in Winnie Texas, supposedly the girls dad was trying to sell a piece of farm equipment and had many people coming by to look at it and one guy came by several times and then next thing the little girl was missing and then like a week later they found her body and then found out this person did it and he had raped her also.

Wow! Where on the Gilbert Ranch were the bodes buried? Is there anyone that could show me where exactly the grave site was? I am Mrs. Gilbert of the Gilbert Ranch and would be curious to see on whcih part of the ranch this happened. Someone said the graves were pre dug. I have never heard this story before until I came across this link. Very interesting and sad for the Phillips family.

The old Phillips house is still there on 1406 but you cant tell from the road because all the trees have covered it. I went in the house in high school as a dare and there is still stuff inside it. I believe my parents told me that someone bought the house and tried to live there but weird things just kept happening and they just left. Winnie is still a safe little town to raise your children.

i have a dear friend that was with Mary the whole time, even when she left town, they remained friends up until her death in 2001. she has alot of info on the case and still has some questions for maybe the lead detective. if someone wants to write a book, she would be willing to share what she knows, please let me know. thank you

well i know the person that left with joes wife the night he was going to kill her and there 2 kids. If anyone is interested in listening to "The Real Story" let me know. Mary has since passed on with a battle with cancer. RIP and her two kids have moved on....

the real story you dont know the real story because joe would have never hurt his kids he loved those kids more than anything this post is clearly filled with people who want to pretend that they know something

These people here don't even know a little bit most are merely playing off of things they heard other people talk about leave these families to deal with the past in what ever way they can don't start there pain over again

I cant speak for everyone but this crime affected me very much as a young person. I would very much like to know the whole, true story.

Remember it well, even though I was only twelve. They found the grave less than a mile from my home.

Yes I remember it all too well. I was about 11 yrs old, I remember the two little girls playing outside all the time, the parents were very loving and caring. It was mistaken idenity, the "stewart" family that lived behind me was suppose to be murdered, instead he murdered the other stewart family. Shortly after that happen, the stewarts that was suppose to be murdered moved out, and left everything they owned. My mother and I was up that night around 10:30 when a very loud car raced down our street, that was very odd, we both looked at each other, little did we know it was a man that had just murdered a family.....

I remember this case. I grew up and lived in Pine Hill when this happened. I remember the night was rainy. They thought at the time that the father was murdered becuase he was a witness in court to a murder. Possible Motorcycle club involvement I remember.

Miriam Your adopted Dad worked for my employer I think in something financial. I have thought many times of you and your family over the years. Happy to hear you are well.
