The mayor and three council members are more interested in a new car for the mayor than updating information about our town. Does Deno Thornton's web site cost the taxpayers now?

Our mayor and council are sure not interested in our town's image. Spending too much time wanting new automobiles for the mayor to ride around in.

How many vehicles does Winnfield have? Mayor said approx. 50? Do we actually need that many for our small town, especially since we have a contract with an out of town company to pick up garbage each week.

Did you notice the BIG HEADLINES in the Winn paper for Wed. July 18, 2012 about "revision" of sewer user fees for Winnfield? NO, it wasn't there. You have to look on page 19 to find that our monthly sewer fee rate in July 2011 was $12.00 ( inside the city), July 1, 2012 the rate was $$13.00/month and July 1, 2013 the rate is set at $14.00/month. In July, 2014, the rates shall be $15.00/ month.
The five council members who voted for this additional tax /fee were: Ball, Demery, Junkin, Mattox, Miller. No nays.
Thirst for more of the workers/retirees money is insatiable by government. Cutting spending is NEVER an option as long as they can tax, tax, tax.

The city, parish state and feeral governments are all wanting more and more. Lets start by kicking obama out in nov. Then lets start locally, why do we need so many police jurors, school board and city council members? all getting good salaries, benefits and retirements. these should be done with minimal pay and no benefits. most have other jobs and this should be a more civic duty. it might not be so corrupt and dirty if it wasnt so much money and benefits attatched to these positions. maybe better decisions would be made if they voted on whats right and not what will get them reelected.

Up, up, up goes cost to Winnfield citizens as jobs and wages go down, down, down!
November 7, 2012 Winn paper, front page news from the Mayor and Council is that the city is going to install guess what? New water lines?? OH, no! They are going to install new water METERS, in the false announcement "to benefit their customers".
And to "make utility's processes more accurate"
Does it make you wonder why we are warned that some residents may notice INCREASE in their water bills?? This is all for our benefit, hummmm. How can that be for our good, to pay more? How do we know the new system will be accurate? After all the new meters will be locked, we are told, and the mayor and council are not through with us yet. The city will have an ordinance relating to fees relating to damages that might occur to the meters which will be moved to city property where necessary.

Back in November 2012 ( Nov. 9, 2012 Winn Paper) the Mayor and council revealed plans to install new electrical and water meters, "to benefit utility customers". There is much evidence those electrical "smart meters" pose serious health dangers with their survelance radiation We should all oppose the use of such devices . See this video and research other web sites that tell of the many health dangers.

There’s no “evidence” that smart meters pose serious health dangers, and the monitoring usage is NOT wiretapping or unlawful surveillance. If you’re worried about electromagnetic radiation, turn off your cell phone or invest in some heavy-duty tinfoil hats. Electronic metering is cheaper to operate than having a meter-reader go on your property. But perhaps you were hoping for one of those pesky trespassers to come back so you could get a clean shot off the next time.
