As toll hikes loom, some motorists prepare to bail

I hope people do bail I drive from rosemont to Schaumburg and the backups from the toll booth are the worst so I hope more people take a diff route maybe I can get home faster for a little extra money :-))

I REFUSE TO PAY THE STATE OF ILLINOIS ONE MORE CENT TO TRAVEL THEIR ROADS. This is absolute highway robbery. I will happily add time to my travel rather than continue to line the pockets of this horrific governmental agency

I already pay high gas tax to illinois, why should I have to pay more in use tax to be on the roads? I'm changing my route, fortunately it will only add 5 mins to my commute, but save .90 each way.(North Ave to Schaumburg, instead use Army Trail)

Nice they're going to inject billions into the economy, but at the same time take away billions from the economy at a time when gas prices are still very high as well.

They didn't mention all of the savings they have achieved by using open road tolling, and reducing coin collectors and toll attendants. They should have dropped rates, not increased them.

When are YOU people going to stand on the hind legs and revolt against the elitist gummint dictators? That's what we did 200+ years ago. Why don't you have the cajones to do the same? At least
burn/destroy the collection locations. That's a start that'll tell the crooked pols you're tired and pissed about the discriminatory tolls.

WOW Tom you are very angry.. It's simple you drive on the toll roads are you don't drive on the toll roads. I for one totally understand and support the increase it's about time we upgrade all if are roads

I have a right to my opinion and yes I do know the facts of the toll roads but nothing for free anymore and that's just the way it is I can't change it and you can't change it so get over it. it's a matter of choice I'm not happy about paying more but I'm going to because it's still a better route for me to drive I could bitch about it to but it's not going to do me any good. Just how stupid are some of you? None of the money you pay in gas taxes goes toward the tollway roads. The only money the tollway gets is what is collected at the toll booths. So the only way you get taxed twice, is if you use the tollroad. Dont use it and you dont have to pay for it. Its that simple.

Now for all of you dolts who think the toll roads should be freeways think of this. IDOT cannot maintain its current roads with the gas tax now in place. Now abolish the tollway and add in over 300 miles of expressways to IDOTs maintenence. Now what do you think would happen top that gas tax? Any guesses??? Here's a hint. They would double or triple over night.

If you dont like the tolls dont use the tollway. There are plenty of other roads for you dimwits to use.

WOW, you people are stupid. The .40 toll has been in place for 30 years! If the tollway was grossly mismanaged, they would have been raising rates every couple of years. Like out local governments do. Stop worrying about the tollway and worry about the stealing of the gas tax to pay for other things or why your property taxes keep going up despite your house losing value.

WTF (Link This), Let's see stupid...cash payers have been paying double that since 2005. Also, truckers have been paying more in "CONGESTION FEES". Of course, the funding of the "Taj Majal" for the toll authority must have escaped your notice also. Dolt. Why don't you just get a real job.

Do you know that the toll roads have to be designed to carry the weight of the double and triple trailer trucks? Do you know how much cheaper it would be to design and build roads just for cars?
