As a resident of Evanston and as someone who is fairly liberal I am still in favor of allowing legal handguns with limits on how they're stored in the home. That's because I'm very conservative about the liberties my ancestors fought, bled, and died for. I'm not talking concealed carry here, etc. But our Constitution allows the right to keep and bear arms and that is an individual right. States cities and townships who are members of the Union need to agree to the basic principles as outlined in the Constitution and Bill of Rights. Period. I also think the black market of illegal guns must be stamped out and every gun owner must be registered. But the current "wait until after you've been murdered and then call the cops" policy is just dumb. Hardened criminals will never give up their guns. The only real option is the deterrence of legal handguns owned by citizens.

Ryan, You're a mixed bag.

Before anything else, I have just TWO questions for you:

[1] Where —in the US Constitution— do you find the authorization of power, for the government to regulate the exercise of individual rights? You know, what Article, Section, paragraph/clause?

[2] What is it about 'SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED' don't you understand?

Get back when you have affirmative replies, eh?
