Don't know much about the new sheriff, wish I did, my folks live in So. Franklin Co. I have been gone from there for a while. I do know that it was past time for a change. I knew Chuck in the late 80's when I was an officer in Franklin Co. but there seems to have been a lot of changes since then. Next time I am in Mt. Vernon I wel go by the S.O. and meet the new Sheriff and get back with my thoughts.

Meeting him is really not the answer, he can talk the talk...infact lie everytime he opens his mouth. He has sure changed a lot of things around the SO. A lot of people have been replaced and things are sure different. The replacements are an embrassment to most of us.I agree there did need to be some changes made!!!! but for the better not changes like this!

That the people of Mount Vernon and Franklin County actually be held accountable for their actions, regardless of who they're connected to!

I am embrassed about the happening in the sheriff's dept way of handling things?
What about the female county officer beating up her husband and NOT getting arresting for it?
Why should she be treated any different than anyone else?
What about the new sheriff being out of town what was his thinking get the sheriff title and NOT doing anything for the people in Franklin county?

I don't think that was a Crime Stoppers event. National Night Out is separate, I think. I know the Crime Stoppers were there, but I'm pretty sure they're not affiliated.

I dont know about the Sheriff situation - but it seems to all Stem from the City leaders. Specifically the Mayor and City Manager who seem to have fun playing games with new businesses. While the downtown continues to die, the city continues to make ordinances which make it impossible to do business there. If you try to work out a solution they are belligerent and retaliatory. Even the Dollar General is moving out of the downtown! Whats to be left down there - a couple of antique stores and two dry cleaners? Makes me want to shop downtown. I have spoken with the owner of the new Radio Station 99.7 - KRBR and what they put him through when he tried to do something good for Mt Vernon. They harassed not only him, but his family who is unrelated to that business. Of course they denied it all - lied out their teeth - even stated there were no ordinances against certain things - when months before they made a big issue over it. These people arent fit to manage the Sonic here..

Its time to make some changes in Mt Vernon. We all have to rally together to make these changes - are you up to it, or do you even give a damn?

The female deputy was run out of Rains County S.O. for stealing gas, along with some other tings. Should have never been hired.

No doubt that this is all going to get swept under the rug! Remember the city officer that was wasted and led the other officers in a pursuit in his squad car? How much longer did he stay working after that?!?!?! Of course, if any of us was to hit our husbands/wives, we'd be hauled away and thrown in jail. But just because she has a badge and is all buddy-buddy with the Sheriff, she's going to walk away with no discipline.
This is ridiculous! We, as citizens of Mt Vernon and Franklin County need to light up the switchboard and demand that this stop now. Equal treatment for all of us!

I am aware that Chuck White had his problems and Fletcher is having his problems as well. But when a Sheriff covers up two seperate incidents involving family violence due to one working as a city official and another his deputy. Not only did his deputy committe assault family violence but also assault with a deadly weapon. Its sad that law enforcement officers in the community can get away with so much, but yet a law enforcement officer should be held to higher degree. If the Sheriff is willing to cover this second incident up what else is he covering up?
There is a lot of questions that has gone unanswered from this sheriff. Really he was not the best candidate for the job. Several senior officers and chief jailer left due to the lack of leadership this sheriff possess. Lot of experience gone due to the lack of job performance he has showen!

You are correct, talk is cheep. I would at least like to meet him. You can tell a lot by just shaking his hand. I know it is all politics but I guess time will tell if he works out. As long as he doesn't do any DWI cover ups for "pillars" of the community he may be Ok, unlike Chuckie.
So which is better

So Domestic Violence is better than DWI? Cause Fletcher has covered up two DV cases!

wondring what the heck failed to inform us that the female deputy in question of beating up her husband is also having an affair with a Winfield officer. That's another thing that the new Sheriff fired another female employee for on the word of the female deputie's word

Let us all remember that even with all this stuff going on, we do have honest officers working for the county. We have officers that will perform their job no matter what is happening, and want to see justice served. Just cause you have one bad seed, does not mean that all are bad. Have you stopped and thought how this effects these officers. So I feel that if anyone needs to be held responsible, let us hold the administration at fault, not the officers.

Chief Deputy was put on leave and then resigned before an internal investigation was conducted. Been kept very quiet. COVERED UP. Must have been something very serious.

Daily Horoscope for December 29

Virgo

If something is weighing on your mind it will start to affect your health, Virgo. It might make you feel tired or depressed, or it could dominate your thoughts. You know what you should do about it, of course, but it seems like too much effort or you want to pretend that it doesn't exist. Unfortunately, this escapist attitude won't make the problem go away and might even make it more tricky by the time you finally decide to tackle it.
