Former Navy SEAL sentenced on firearms, drug charges

It's not so much that I disagree with the sentence, but haven't we seen murderers, rapist and pedifiles get less time than this?

There is no law, either state (Virginia) or federal that requires firearm registration, unless they are class 3 rifles. I'm guessing that is the case. Otherwise, the charge makes no sense.

C4 expolives - controlled at the federal level. Requires permit. I'm guessing he didn't have that either.

I wonder why they didn't charge him with stolen weapons charges?

Typical Daily Press anti-gun propaganda - I'm sorry folks the guns are here to stay. What is so wrong with stockpiling weapons? My grandmother probably had a better collection than this guy. I don't see any machine guns against that wall, mostly 22's and 12 gauges - whoopie. The only weapons needing Class two taxes and registration are the explosives and any machine guns or silencers. All three are totally legal if they are registered and the taxes paid. The tax is only $200.00. Will you lighten up on the guns? I like guns. Most of the people reading this paper own at least one. People has heard one side of his situation. Granted he should not have had the illegal items. BUT!, no one has said how his ex girlfriend set all this up, then forged his name off of his auto,bank accounts, business, broke into the house to remove items, that she should not have taken.
Did she tell anyone that he gave her $400.00 a month to pay for a child she abandoned in Ind. NO! of course not. The Judge-Prosecutor's are toasting victory when people doing far worst get off with parole.

for those who are interested. his ex- girlfriend has this thing that she does to men. she takes all their money, uses them for all their worth, and then she ruins them. she set elbert up because he was no longer worth anything to her. i believe she does this out of guilt for having a kid who she never wanted, just sent him money. her guilt has just eaten away at her. but what she doesnt know are the kids that are now living with her will eventually A. turn out like her or B. grow to hate her guts. as a lot of us do. Karma is a wonderful thing and it does come around. the boobs and tummy tuck don't last forever. and oh the guy that she's been cheating with. well he'll get what she's got in store for him soon enough, I'm guessing she'll take all he's got by the time she has to redo her boobs.the thing of it is . this poor bastard will read this thinking it's a joke.. but when all is said what goes around comes around..

I agree Eastern Shore, this has been just crazy. yes! elbert should not have had the weapons, but why didn't she just leave. and then to top that she also stole his last 2 or 3 days of freedom. she had him arrested just days before his sentencing. I just can't believe this woman. Once again karma's comming, and Serena Cox will reap what she sews!!!!

I am close to Elbert and Serena. I know that had he not went crazy on steroids and physically abused her for the entire relationship she would have never left him. After he attacked her in front of all 5 kids in Indiana Im sure she had enough. He has a violent history to women. I guess he pushed around the wrong woman. How about all the BULLY MEN in the world get a clue!

Elbert and Serena started the marine business in 2002. They worked hard as a family and started with only diving. As the business grew Serena handled the diving while Elbert did the rest. It was commom to see them detailing boats or painting bottoms together.

If you reside in the home, it is hard to break in! I know how the relationship between Elbert and his ex really was. Eastern Shore are the people living in Elberts home now, who recently threw Serena's, Elbert's and their kids stuff in the front yard. What's wrong, your money run out??

ok! she stayed for abuse, so she says, but as long as the money kept coming in she was happy... right!!!!

She was already living with her new "boyfriend" when her stuff (not Elberts) and her kids (not his) was put out into the yard. She was given ample time to pick her stuff up. Her problem was she wanted his things also. The people that are living there now are friends of Elberts who have taken over the business until he can pick up (hopefully) when he gets out. If the relationship was so "bad" then why didn't she just leave. Why turn a man in for something that she has known about since she has been with him? She was in Indiana when the "domestic incident" occurred. She was home. Some family member would have taken her in (if she is such a saint). From what I understand her own family has pretty much disowned her. I was a friend to both of them. She really distroyed Elbert though. His girls will be 18 and 16 when he gets out of prison. Nice huh. Their son will be 11. Such a sad situation. Why be so vindictive? She had other options and other avenues. The man that she is with now is clueless. He believes her lies. She has blamed everything on Elbert. Says that Elberts family and most of her family are trying to destroy her. Well, if he believes her lies then maybe when it happens to him he will finally see the light.
