Official: 2011 could be 'worst budget year' for school districts

Full story: York Dispatch

An incoming governor, a $4 billion-plus deficit, disappearing stimulus funds and a shifting state budget schedule will all contribute to "the worst budget year, in terms of uncertainty, in maybe the last two decades." That's what Jay Himes, executive director of the Pennsylvania Association of School Business Officials, calls the upcoming budget ...

Thank goodness we got our $72 million dollar high school expansion, a new 8 million dollar athletic field house, 7 million dollar football stadium with artificial turf(the stadium originally needed new bleachers), a new state of the art artificial track, several new administrative positions well over $100,000 with life time health benefits, and several new elementary schools before anyone noticed there might be a revenue shortfall.

Now out teachers ask for a 1.79% raise for 3 years and the School Board votes NO, 9-0. This after two paid independant third parties reviewed the contract and recommended approval.

What could be wrong with our educational system? Any body out there have a dumber School Board, let's hear it!

Must be CASD... The only people worse than the board are the Teacher's union. Those thugs want every dime the taxpayers make handed over to them...

Kids can't read - but we have a sweet stadium.

The "alcoholics", also known as the business as usual school board members, have been enjoying the "open bar" for too long on the taxpayer.

The price of our gas and food continues to rise and you expect us to cough up more property taxes this year.

No property tax increases this year in any school district.

Cut spending, freeze pay, cut administration pay with our 150-thousand dollar a year superintendents etc.

This is just the start of what I see as a yearly ever increasing burden on taxpayers via property taxes. Cause states don't want to increase taxes so they're going to mandate down to the municipalities which have very little taxing authority. States will be hard pressed to continue spending on education as well causing the school boards to hit up their local electorate as well. So get ready to go to battle it's beginning.

Pssst! The lottery money has always been for the "senior citizens"! The casinos that Fast Eddie put in were to help with the property (school) taxes.

Today's Full Moon will affect your love life significantly during the next few months. You might have to say goodbye to someone you care about, or you may realize some difficult truths about your relationship.
