I don't work in a nursing home, so don't jump to conclusions. If you put your loved one in there, why? I know some people work and say they don't have time to take care of them. But I would let go of material things to have my loved one at my own home and living with me to make THEIR life easier. You better be prepared cause if you only visited them once a month or rarely made efforts on your end, you don't stand a chance. It'll be the old why do you care now and not then? You better think long and hard because they have money and you don't, if I can think of ways to throw neglect at you, what do you think a defense lawyer will do for them? Whatever the situation, I hope you or your loved one are in a better place now.

THE DOCTOR PUT MY MOTHER IN A NURSING HOME NOT ME. I COULDNT KEEP HER BECAUSE IM DISABLE. I ALSO VISITED HER ALL THE TIME ,DID HER LAUNDRY,CALLED EVERY DAY,BOUGHT HER ANYTHING SHE NEEDED OR WANTED.I WAS ALWAYS ON THE STAFF FOR NOT DOING THINGS FOR MY MOTHER ,CAUSING INJURYS AND DOWN RIGHT NEGLECT.SO DONT SPEAK UNTIL YOU KNOW THE FACTS.

You really don't much about this facility do you. They don't have that much "power" or "money". That is one of the reasons they changed the name was so they wouldn't be associated with all the bad crap that has went on there, and it's kinda hard to sue an entente that doesn't exsist. |

Did her laundry, visited all the time....and you are disabled? Packing laundry to and from a car and then doing it and packing it back is a chore. And you are disabled? You can go shopping and buy her anything she wants? Who signed off on your disability cause if you had time for all that, you should have had time care for your OWN MOTHER and not stick her in a nursing home. Look at the name, ladies and gents, REVENGE...another mooch trying to get more from the system than they deserve in anyway they can. And if she can get around enough to make her own bed, it seems like you probably just agreed or pressured her doc to begin with. Sounds like you put yourself before her. If you didn't want her there, you should have taken it to court and not let it happen. Too late to cry now...revenge...do you think anyone believes you other than yourself? If you were worth your salt and legit, you'd do your own research and not look for an lawyer on topix. Instead you are just starting another thread just to run your mouth. |

I DO AND HAVE WORKED IN A NURSING HOME FOR 26 YEARS.NO DISRESPECT INTENDED TO ANYONE ON THIS TOPIX.JUST WANT EVERYONE TO KNOW.TRY GOING IN AND LOVING AND CARING FOR NUMEROUS AMOUNTS OF PTS. EVERYDAY.SERIOUSLY TRYING TO GIVE THEM WHAT THEY NEED.IT DOESNT STOP WITH THE PHYSICAL ASPECTS OF MY JOB.SOME DAYS SUPPORTING THEM MENTALLY FAR OUTWEIGHS THE ACHES AND PAINS I LEAVE WITH FROM MY DUTIES EVERYDAY.DONT MISUNDERSTAND ME I REALIZE SOME CARETAKERS SPEND MORE OF THEIR TIME TRYING TO HURRY THE CLOCK UP THEY INDEED FORGET WHAT THEY SHOWED UP FOR.THATS GENARALLY THE WAY IT IS IN ANY PROFESSION AT ANY JOB.REVENGE WHY WOULD YOU HAVE TO LOOK SO IN DEPTH.FOR AN ATTORNEY IF YOU HAD SUCH A NIGHTMARISH EXPERIENCE WITH YOUR MOTHER THERE.SOUNDS LIKE THEY WOULD BE CALLING YOU STANDING IN LINE.I CAN GIVE YOU A HEADS UP BEFORE YOU EVEN CONSIDER THIS LAWSUIT.IF IT WAS THAT BAD AND YOU ALLOWED THIS TO HAPPEN WITHOUT TAKING HER OUT OF THE IMMEDIATE DANGER BECAUSE I MYSELF WOULDNT HAVE GIVEN MY MOTHER ANOTHER MINUTE TO HAVE TO BE PUT IN THAT POSITION MUCH LESS LEAVE HER THERE DAY AFTER DAY IF I FELT SHE WAS SO NEGLECTED.IM SORRY BUT YOU WERE THE ONE THAT SOUNDS NEGLECTFUL.IVE SEEN IT TIME AND TIME AGAIN AND I ALWAYS SAY TO MYSELF AS THEY LEAVE THE NURSING HOME COMPLAINING ABOUT THE CARE AND HOW BAD IT HURTS THEM TO SEE THEIR LOVED ONES BEING MISTREATED WOULD I LEAVE MY MOTHER WHERE I TRULEY FELT LIKE SHE WAS IN DANGER.AS DIFFICULT AS I UNDERSTAND IT IS THERE ARE OPTIONS.WOULD YOU LEAVE HER IN A LINE OF FIRE NO YOUD REMOVE HER FROM IT.THERES NO DIFFERENCE WHEN YOU THINK THEY ARE IN DANGER AS TO HOW YOU RESOLVE THE SITUATION.MONEY HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE TRUTH AND THE FACTS.ID BE STANDING IN THE UNEMPLOYMENT LINE IF THAT WAS THE CASE.

Revenge, I really dislike when people come on here and cry..cry about how their mother/father..family member was mistreated...now..lets back up for a minute...i work in healthcare...in a nrsing home..I have been out there n busted my tale on the floor caring for loved ones..It is not an easy job...if u think it is, i would invite you into my shoes for one day...anyhow...we wrk thru a chain of command so to speak.. if our resident refuses care(such as shower/bath/meds/changing clothes..etc) we have to report it to our nurse/Unit director/DON...they in return talk to the resident..if refusals r still made, they talk to the family...this all is chartd in the residents chart....If YOU revenge seen so calld things not being done..such as your mother's shower not givn or your mother telling u that she refused her meds so she wouldnt have to go to the restroom all the time, I want to ask u WHY U DIDNT step in and do something??? Talk to the nurse, unit director, social services, her dr..(esp if you were her POA)....families have that right...I'm sorry you had to lose your mother, but it is so easy to blame someone else when it comes to death of a loved one being card for in a healhcare facility...I'm here to say, nursing homes are here to care for loved ones when there families cant.....

Wow. That was certainly a prejudicial post, I suspect written by someone who works for a nursing home. Did you get written up for giving poor patient care? Did some elderly or disabled person "fall" when you were supposed to be helping them shower? What's your problem? People come on Topix and ask for the name of a lawyer ALL the time. Why has this post made you so mad? There could be a million reasons WHY the OP wasn't able to care for the mother at home. Maybe the mother was too heavy to lift. Maybe the mother had medical conditions that required monitoring. Maybe the mother had mental issues that made it impossible to be cared for at home. YOU DON'T KNOW. All the OP did was ask about an attorney. OP---look in the Lexington yellowpages for an eldercare attorney. That would be a good place to start. |

The poster has not ruined the chance of a law suite, as no real names are posted. I am really sure that the employee surveys that were done recently really told the company how the employees felt about the facility. I personally do not work there anymore, why you might ask. I was asked to over look something that in my professional opinion was very important. I approached the proper person with my concern, and concern that I should report this to an even higher leve. The person I went to, and I quote, "That would not be a wise career move on your part." To me that ment say anything and you're risking getting fired. So I did the next logical step, I wrote my resignation letter, spelling out and highlighting the reasons that I was resigning. I sent that letter to not only the DON, but the administrator, and to corporate office. Once my seperation was complete, I did the next logical thing and that was to alert the state as to what happened. Thus the reason for the survey in which many things were found wrong. In short would I or will return, maybe, when the DON is gone, and the current administration leaves. When bad management is in place, even good employees suffer. |

Actually my friend it is the exact opposite, you're the one not wanting someone to do something about a bad situation. If I am bad then why have the called me not once, not twice, not even three times, but 7X and asked me to return. I don't toot my own horn, and do what is best for the for more patients, always have, and always will. You can bet, that if it comes to court, that I will be there along with every other person that I can find, and with a suite case full of findings. |
