What would it cost to "pretty up" that place a little with some light colors, like pink, or some painted flowers on the walls like there is in the visitors area? After all, it IS a women's prison and prsioner are people too.

These idiots act like they want to keep increasing prison terms and keep the ones they have forever. Every intelligent state government in the U.S. has long since learned that when fanatical woes effect prisons, you simply let the non-violent ones out when they've completed half their sentence. This county has so many more prisoners per capita than any other industrial country, that somebody has got to put an end to this industry of locking American citizen up and finding ways to make them productive instead of a burden to our economy. Instead of more and bigger prisons, how about more jobs?

I had mixed feelings about both these measures because I feared the cost would be too much. The idea that prison sentences alone for drug offenders will make them give up their addiction is nonsense. Property crimes need to be dealt with but again can the state afford such a plan? We need to punish criminals but building more prisons isn't the answer.
