You got that right, that is the most filthy stinken casino in Oreogn, You walk in and your hit with a foul odor and if your lucky enough to get a drink you can't sit it down because of all the trash piled around and that's after you clean ashes off a chair to sit down in. Then you go to play a machine and your money keeps coming back out or you go to cash out and you can't get your ticket. People hound you for money and you look around to see where security is and they are off in some corner visiting with the change person or other personnel, you go to the cage and you have to stand in line because they only have one window open, if you order anything from the deli you have to clean a table off. I guess the general manager approves of this since it never changes. I don't go there anymore. I would rather spend my money in a place that is clean and employees treat you good and that is in every other casino in Oregon. I think they should change their name to klamoyuk

I would think you would get a clue from what was said and try to better your enterprise but if all you can do is talk crap then it's no wonder your casino has went no where after 12 years and your truck stop went no where after several days.Do you really believe that only tribal guests can keep your casino doors open, if so go ahead and run off non tribal guests. The comments from Dont come back and Klamath Indian attack the messenger but do not dispute the message. What was said is the truth but rather than deal with the truth they choose to attack the messenger. That is one of the problems with their tribe - they won't or can't deal with the reality of their situation so they need to put the blame on others.

And when confronted with reality they use foul language and alcohol / drug induced comments to portray their demented understanding of their reality.

They are an embarrassment to those tribal members who do care but are in the minority.

But they don't seem to care why they get such small per-capita payments; I personally know of a tribe in southern San Diego county the same size as the Klamath that received their per-capita payment of over $48,000 per tribal member. Their tribe knows how to run a casino venture and how to manage their funding.

There are many examples of properly operated tribal ventures to be used as templates for this tribe to follow but the Klamath really don't seem (as a tribe) to have much Pride or Care about their assets or their standing.

We are located in the most poverty ridden county in the state of Oregon. And I do not post in a drunken/drug induced state. I am educated and do not use drugs or drink alcohol but this filthy casino you talk about is not what I see when I go into Klamoya. Of course they have a larger population density to draw to thier establishment; that is a given, but do some simple math - say their profits per month are 10 times that of your casino. That would still equate to a per capita payment for you of over $4800.- rather than your few bucks your tribe is able to get for you.
It may make you feel good but it is one of the worst run business I have ever seen. Go into any other casino in Oregon and then you will see what an embarrassment your casino is in comparison.

The reason I got so pissed off by UR Right's comments is my tribe has dealt with being ripped off during termination, getting blamed for the water situation, and yes some alcohol/drug abuse issues within our tribe, personaly I have been sober for 13 years, believe me big mouth know it all, we as a tribe know what is wrong. I go to Klamoya and get nothing but hellos and smiles!! Maybe what the problem is at Klamoya is all the White People someone has hired is being rude to you, or maybe your a gamble-holic which is great for us!!!(Yea) shove another twenty in!!!! I didn't take U R Right comments as downing the Tribe, I read it as pointing out how poorly the casino seems to be run. Like Chiloquin Guy pointed out again the messenger was attacked. It doesn't matter if this person is a gamble- holic what matters is they are probably shoving their twentys in at another casino, sadly that's klamoya's lost.

It seems to me that those who have responded in the negative so far (and mostly childish responses at that) do not understand what and how a properly run business operation should look like. Sure some locals will always be greeted by those who personally know them and for the most part the door greeters are very nice to most people when a door greeter is available. It's the overall physical condition of the casino - broken down, ill repaired storage cabinets in the Rapids Deli / wobbly tables and mismatched chairs in the Deli / equipment as old as the casino and in need of replacement / the EXACT same menu items / smelly, dark playing areas - that's what is visual. Employees who are treated so poorly by the casino's management that they just show up to collect their paychecks and don't care more than that (sure there will always be a few exceptional employees who are friendly / outgoing / caring even in the face of such a poorly operated environment). The main cause for the casino's poor performance is the management and the Tribal heads that DO NOT CARE how the funds are spent and/or if they are being used to the best / most efficient way possible – and are not held accountable for their actions or lack of being able to operate the business properly. Most are under-educated in the ways of proper business management techniques and reply on their "gut feel" on how to do things and over the 12 years of the casino's existence it shows that their way has not done very much good for the Tribe. The casino looks a lot like their personal dwellings.

98% of opposing viewpoints to the original post do have the slightest idea of what is really going on nor do they remember from year to year all of the missing dollars - plans never realized - progress not happening. It all adds up to millions of dollars that have been wasted and a casino that looks old / smells old / no desire by those in charge to make improvements other than new slot machines now and then / on and on and on. And a Tribal administration that is not accountable for their performance.

The Tribe allows for an casino employee to have the job title of Executive Chef who does not know anything about restaurant management / can't make change for a dollar even with help / serves the same thing day in and day out (anyone else had their fill of buttered rice and small red beans?)/ cooks everything days in advance and then reheats it to serve - no wonder it all tastes like very poor camp food / throws away thousands of dollars of food each week because she can't MANAGE preparation based on the number of diners per hour per weekly average / uses premium ingredients to put out below average food on a regular basis / more and more people have intestinal problems after eating at the Buffet. Actions show that she doesn't care about the food she is in charge of preparing or if it is safe to serve to the public and is allowed to get away with it. There are so many examples just in the food areas that any knowledgeable and CARING employee in charge could make better with ever little effort - but they are NOT ALLOWED to make changes by the current management (the so-called GM).

I truly feel that if an outside investigation were to be conducted on the expenditures by the Tribe and the casino's management and the activity of GRC that there would be major criminal charges brought against more than just a few individuals. My opinion only. But there again I have never ever seen anything run so poorly and allowed to get away with it. maybe they can lose that much $$$$$$ each and every day of the year and get away with it.

Normal business minded people would never let that happen.

I happen to be one of those white guys you’re so easily blaming so whatever I might be able to being to the table (be it over 30+ years of a very successful business career being a major part of running multi-million dollar businesses and also owning multiple business of my own - all profitable which allowed me to sell them and then move to this wonderful area of Oregon) is going to be emotional and personal judged rather than taken as a possible viable source of potential improvement methods, if implemented correctly and managed properly.
I have the business acumen to be able to make my assumptions of the status of the Tribe and casino and I have had the input of reliable sources of datum to validate many of my positions.
If I am wrong or misinformed on anything that I have posted to date then please allow me the opportunity to learn by informing me of the facts / the reality – not overly tainted by emotion or personal preference outside of said facts / reality.
I personally want the best for the Klamath Tribe as I have a selfish interest as a property owner – I want my investments to GROW and they won’t as long as the Tribe allows for itself to be run by the same ones / families that have to date proven to be incompetent managers of the Tribal assets (like the casino).
I’d be more than happy to mentor / assist in Tribal governance (definition for those unfamiliar with the term - governance relates to consistent management, cohesive policies, processes and decision-rights for a given area of responsibility) if given the opportunity without being chastised for being a white guy trying to tell the tribe what to do. It should not matter the color of one’s skin or ancestry – what should matter is the results and your Tribe needs assistance, a great deal of it, to manage its assets to the betterment of the entire tribe. Other tribes are doing it – will yours someday realize as a whole what possible potential is available if they would just learn how to do it?
One can only wish at this time since it sure seems that “outsiders” are not looked at as being here to assist. History is just that (it happened and is over). Learn from the past but don’t repeat that which has caused harm for the Tribe – and right the current wrongs with Pride and Care - and hold those in charge accountable.

Focus on the comments not the person. The casino could use a makeover. It does smell. The food is the same week in week out. Security does stand around yapping. Facilities? except for day crew no one does too much at all (if you can find any of them). The ground under the front awning could use a good power wash. The landscaping is ... well you can see for yourself. What happened to pride in your work? Stop being defensive and taking things personal. The casino needs to be given the once over oh, and expanded. True be the chef comment, as he does nothing but walk around and talk to women staff.

You are the one calling me rich; I have worked hard for what I have which is what everyone has / had the opportunity to do with their life. Waste my time here? Is that what you think of this area - a waste? It is a very beautiful area that happens to be occupied by way to many lazy people wanting others to care for their needs rather than to do it themselves.
So the tribe doesn't need any help from the outside? Their track record speaks for itself as they have proven time and time again that they do not know what they are doing by the results of their actions to date.
