IN MEMORY OF DEPUTY SCOTT RODGER STRIDER
Scott Rodger Strider, 38, of Wilmington, Ohio died 4:05 PM, Tuesday, April 21, 2009 at Clinton Memorial Hospital. His wife, Kynda Wheeler Strider, whom he married November 26, 2006, survives. Mr. Strider was born September 17, 1970 in Fayette County, Ohio, son of Jacqulan Stout of Wilmington, Ohio and Phillip David Strider of Clarksville, Ohio. He was a 1990 graduate of Wilmington High School and attended Southern State University. Mr. Strider served in the United States Marine Corp. He received his Ohio Peace Officer Training from the Southern State Community College Greenfield Police Academy. Mr. Strider was employed by the Clinton County Sheriff's Office as a deputy sheriff for the past eight years. Previously he had been a police officer for the New Vienna Police Department and the Lynchburg Police Department. He had also worked at Airborne Express. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Wilmington. He was an avid fisherman and a former member of the Clinton County Farmers & Sportsmen Association. Most importantly, though, Mr. Strider was a loving and caring husband, father, son, and brother. In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Strider is survived by a son, Jack Strider; a daughter, Rebecca Strider; two stepchildren, Jonathan Ballein and Kylie Bayless; his stepfather, Mike Stout of Wilmington, Ohio; two sisters, Rhonda (Scott) Michael of Hillsboro, Ohio and Amy (Andy) Roosa of New Vienna, Ohio; three stepbrothers, Steve Phillips, Christopher Phillips, and Jeremy Phillips; his grandparents, Don & Jerri Strider of Midland, Ohio; a special aunt and uncle, Connie & Rich LaChance; an uncle, Dan Redden; his father-in-law, Keith Wheeler; his mother-in-law, Betty (Donnie) Smith; four brothers-in-law, Jeff (Patty) Wheeler, Brad (Trish) Wheeler, Marcus Wheeler, and Michael (Ruth) Barnes; several nieces and nephews including, Megan (William) Hart, Jordan Prickett, Gracie Michael, Cole Michael, Andrea Roosa, and Austin Roosa; as well as many other aunts, uncles, and cousins. Mr. Strider is preceded in death by his grandfather, Jack Redden, and his grandmother, Helen Redden. Funeral services will be 1:00 PM, Saturday, April 25, 2009 at Bible Baptist Church of Wilmington, 55 Megan Drive, Wilmington, Ohio. Burial will be in Good Hope Cemetery, Fayette County, Ohio. Friends may call from 4:00 PM - 8:00 PM, Friday, April 25, 2009 at the Bible Baptist Church of Wilmington. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Scott R. So happy to have known Scott for as long as I did, I'm a better person for having been around him. He was the best dad I ever knew and was such a good fun loving guy. He loved his family so much, especially his mom and kids.

Happy Birthday Scott, miss ya bunches. Would give anything to go on another hunt for a "stretch armstrong" to give to you for your b-day. I'm sure your family misses you most, and I know your watching over them. Thank you for making me a better person and know always that you are loved by many.

Hope heaven is all you thought it would be and tell Grandma Redden I said hey. She did good work molding you! Your visits are great, it makes me smile everytime...... Love ya.
