ELIZABETHTOWN — The Essex County Youth Bureau is participating in the Summer Food Service Program.
Free meals will be provided to all children 18 years and under, regardless of race, color, national origin, sex, age or disability. Meals will be provided at several sites around the county. OPEN SITES Meals will be available July 6 to Aug. 7 to all children in the area at CVES, Plank Road, Mineville, with breakfast, Monday through Friday, 9 to 9:15 a.m.; and lunch, Monday through Friday, 11 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. ENROLLED SITES At some sites, meals are served only to children who have enrolled. Meals are free of charge to all eligible children; they must meet the income guidelines for reduced-price meals in the National School Lunch Program. Children who are part of households that receive food stamps or benefits under the Food Distribution Program on Indian Reservations or Temporary Assistance to Needy Families are automatically eligible to receive free meals. The enrolled sites are: Bloomingdale Fire House: Lunch, Monday through Friday, noon to 1 p.m., July 6 to Aug. 14. Petrova Elementary School, Saranac Lake: Lunch, Monday through Friday, noon to 1 p.m., July 6 to Aug. 14. Schroon Lake Central School: Breakfast, Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m. to 9 a.m., and lunch Monday through Thursday, 11 a.m. to noon, from July 6 to 30. as everyone would notice that there is no open site this year in ticonderoga due to the school will not be open during the summer months.

My gosh is that the only facility in Ti? There is the armory, St. Mary's, the Mthodist Church and probably other places I can't think of at the moment that might work for free lunches. Just a matter of checking out things, Oh, how about the fire house, that should also work. Just a thought.

I called Mr. D. and to have a breakfast and lunch program you need, by state requirements, a number of kitchen appliances that only a cafeteria like the school can meet. Crown point also had to cancel their lunch and breakfast program since they do not have the facility. I am sure this can be confirmed by the youth bureau. I think Angela MacAlpine tried to bring the food program to Ti but was unsucessful due to the state requirements.
