So the pubes lost a district they've won since the civil war? Hmmm, let's hope they continue to put up similar "conservative" candidates in 2010.

That means NY is down to just 2 republican districts, BOTH of which will be eliminated after the 2010 census redistricting. Soon there will be NO repubes left in the entire northeast. See ya!
OMG GOPosaurs couldn't even win with the military vote in Fort Drum! |

1 He would have won if the 6,000 dumb repubs voting for scuzzyfaba would have realized she had already withdrawn or if her name had been removed from the ballot. This actually bodes well for the Conservative since now his name is out there and he'll be right back next year since this is only a 1 yr replacement. |

1 Taxpayers' real cost of cash for clunkers:$24,000 a car, Edmunds.com analysis says Taxpayers ended up paying an average of $24,000 per vehicle for the cash-for-clunkers program over the summer when sales that would have happened anyway are taken into consideration, says car-buying research site Edmunds.com . Clunkertruckpg-horizontal The program, which cost taxpayers $3 billion, gave car buyers up to $4,500 in incentives to trade in their gas-guzzling clunkers to buy new fuel-thrifty cars. It was intended primarily to spur sales, and the economy. But Edmunds.com says a lot of those sales would have happened anyway, with or without the clunkers program. Of more than 690,000 vehicles sold, only about 125,000 of the sales were entirely due to the government's added inducement, Edmunds.com says. The rest of buyers just got lucky by getting the government to kick cash into deals that they would have proceeded with anyhow. When the cost of the program is spread over just those extra incremental sales, the total is $24,000 per vehicle. That's just about $2,000 shy of the average amount paid for a new car by buyers in August,$26,915. http://content.usatoday.com/communities/drive... |

2 So is this any representation of America, like you rightwingnuts claim the Gov race in N.J. was? A district that hasn't had a Dem since 1852 decided they had enough of repubs. Same as the General Election that gave Repubs, McCain, and Palin a very notable trouncing. |

1 It's nice to know that her 5 million dollar campaign debt will be paid off. Just like Daggett's debts. |

Conservatives owe NY-23 candidate Doug Hoffman immeasurable gratitude. He overcame impossible odds (single digits just a month ago) to come within two points of defeating Democrat Bill Owens. Hoffman had zero name recognition. National Republican Party officials dumped nearly $1 million into the race on behalf of radical leftist GOP candidate Dede Scozzafava, who then turned around, endorsed Owens and siphoned off 5 percent of the vote with her name still on the ballot after she dropped out.
Conservatives’ money went to pay for specious attack ads against Hoffman run by the NRCC like this. Conservatives’ money went to support a GOP candidate who shares the same socialist alliances with fellow SEIU/ACORN/New Party/Working Families Party activist Patrick Gaspard, the Obama White House political director who intervened in the race to secure Scozzafava’s endorsement of Owens. Hoffman’s candidacy illuminated the stark difference between GOP political opportunists willing to pimp out their endorsements to any old ACORN-embracing, Working Families Party-consorting, Big Labor crony who puts an “R” by her name — and movement conservatives who refuse to “mooooderate” for the politically expedient sake of mooooderation as dictated by out-of-touch Beltway party leaders. The NRCC/RNC’s $1 million debacle will cost much more than that. |

1 Yes, it is. It is a representation of what happens when a dishonest politican pretends that she is a Republican, takes almost a million dollars from the GOP and then endorses a Democrat when she gets caught. Then she remains on the ballot to siphon off some Republican votes. But still Hoffman almost won. |

1 Check your facts. Democrats succeeded in 1993. A month ago, no one knew who Hoffman was. The Democrat win came from a unusually Liberal Republican withdrawing and supporting the Democrat. It is a lesson for the Republicans to never run a Liberal faking a political status. An independent conservative coming so close to winning without anyone knowing him implies a deep schism in the Democrat base in every area of America, even dope infested NY state. People gave Democrats incredible power and they have shown themselves as out of control, lying sociopaths. |

1 Hoffman is just the type of dorky geek we need in DC. Not a corrupt career politician. Just a self made business man with decent morals. Sure hope he will consider running again. |

1 The teabaggers drove a moderate Republican out of the race, and a Democrat won just about the reddest district in the country. I LOVE it when Sarah Palin sets her mind to something! She's too much of a quitter, but when she focuses, it magic! My only fear is the Queen of Teabagger Nation peaks before 2012. |
|||
Not only that, but Hoffman was only on the "Conservative" line on the ballot, not the "Republican" line. Check your facts. Democrats succeeded in 1993 |

One year from now, if Owens supports Pelosi and Obama on Healthcare, Card Check, Porkulus II and Cap and Trade, he will be toast in this district. He ran as a conservative democrat, but accepted help from the DNCC and the White House, so now he's between a rock and a hard place. A couple of misteps will make it easier for Hoffman to pick him off in 2010.

It won't matter because after the 2010 census redistricting, this district will be split up among the overwhelming democratic districs that border it. NY will be down to maybe 1 reliably republican district- maybe. |

I agree. |
