We are paying for it next year... we are paying for it over the next 20-25 years.... our bleeping politicians are on the credit card mentality that has killed the nation.

Wake Up people -- we can't keep putting these financial burdens on our children and grandchildren. The system is already broke because of this mentality. So, let's break it some more.

IDIOTS in GOVERNMENT!!! What a surprise. I want the money taken out of their pockets.

What exactly is this money to be spent on??? Filling the pockets of some over priced company to put up a few towers?? Any body heard about cutting out the middle man and buying equipment in bulk?? It sounds like the US Government has handed down their concept that if you raise the price on an item to and ungodly amount , that makes that low price item way better then it was at ..say 99 cents. Duh! NO joke here..
Unless your speaking of those that want to waste the Counties money on lining some guys pockets while emptying the pockets of those that are forced to pay these highly inflated prices for anything that the County Officials want to throw it at.. Yes, we may need some equipment. But I think. we'd probably save money. if we taught the people that use it.. How to use it and take care of it...

Sparky, Do you even have a clue as to how much 10 million dollars is??? And I haven't heard of any times when the imformation didn't get where it was needed.. Maybe you didn't turn up your hearing aid... And if that happened what do you think a phone line is for.. Set yourself up an emergency telephone relay.

Well, i see people who still live in the dark ages are coming out from under their rocks and trying to act intelligent. You fail on all accounts. Not a siren chaser, tell you one thing, cell phones don`t always work and along with an emergency phone relay you still have one basic problem. Time delay. do you expect the volunteers to sit by their phones 24/7 waiting for an emergency. Whether it`s a medical emergency or a major fire time and simutanious notification is essential along with proper communication during an emergency. How important is your or your families life and property worth in a true emergency. you can`t put a price on that can you?

And I'll tell you one thing.....10 million dollars is absolutely ridiculous for a small county system. But we all know that they really NEED it, god forbid the ladder truck doen't get to the next snowmobile accident. You kids need to buy your own toys nd quit expecting the TAXPAYERS to provide you with them. When the departments start showing some responsibilty, maybe people would not be so hesitant to help.

10 million seems like alot, but the system needs to be replaced. They can no longer get parts. It is the old tube type, I don't think any place makes those parts any more. What happens if there is a county wide emergency( remember the ice storm),face it cell service is spotty at best. Lots of the county no service at all. Plus I believe at times they need to reach more than one person/department at the same time. Also not all cell towers work during a power outage.

Someone gets in a bit of a muddle today and it could take some unravelling. For instance, they might get their wires crossed, leading to all sorts of misunderstandings. You might also encounter someone who is trying to rewrite history, perhaps because they can't bear to remember things as they really were. Should you set them straight or leave well alone?
