What is responsible for the increasing gas prices. Back three years ago the increases were blamed on President Bush. I think they are now due to President Obama's moratorium against drilling in the gulf. Gas was less than $1.90 when he was elected and now it is $3.25 in Peotone and almost $3.50 in Chicago Heights. Who do you blame for the cost increase?

The rise in gas prices is due to the recovery, slow that it may be, of the economy. As the stock market's numbers go up and the outlook is improving, the price per barrel of oil goes up. So goes the prices at the pump.

Taxes will prolly be increased in time to pay for the health care bill and the recovery act, as I saw on tv every american would have to pay $48,000 to pay off the deficit. But the rises had to due with the couple pipeline leaks we had in the last 2 months and other factors I think of demand..

Gasbuddy.com s price chart shows prices were at an all time high during the Bush administration.Look at the price difference from when Bush took office until he left office.Kinda funny how there was a sudden drop in price at election time in 2008

Cannot remember an economic recovery in the past where gas prices jumped like this, but I'm only 67 years old. There is plenty of blame to go around, but the lack of drilling on federal lands is not helping. Killing the Keystone pipe line is only going to make it worse.

I don't know why the people in Braidwood pay 4.29 a gallon for gas, when they can go 3 miles South to Braceville and pay 3.99 a gallon. People need to shop around for the cheapest prices.

There is no good reason for gas to be where it is. It is our government who
Decides where the price is. Take the taxes off and we would be paying $2.67 less a gallon. Our so called leaders suck

Goldman Sachs stated in a Sep. 2011 article that speculation on oil futures accounted for $24 dollars of the cost of a barrel of oil. Some economists have the number as high as 50. Senator Sanders from VT stated just last week that 70% of all oil futures are not purchased by end users, just speculators looking to drive the price up. "We" dont own any of the oil drilled here, the mineral rights have been given to the oil companies, who are once again posting record profits. The number one US export as of February this year became refined oil products. Yet the price goes up and up.

Regulate Wall Street? Oh no...thats big gubmint getting in the way of job producers!!!!!!

If New Lenox can pull off the boycott, we certainly should be able to in Wilmington. And New Lenox had the support of its mayor who actually encouraged the boycott. Let's do it, people!

we could all just go buy horses and then watch the price of hay sky rocket. obviously the more in demand a product is, the more theycan charge for it. since this whole country is so dependant on fossil fuels, we jut gotta deal with it. everyone thinks that they have to buy into this so called "american way of life". we all have to have 80 inch plasma tv's. we all have to have a big ass SUV. we all have to have the biggest house. more, more, more. that is why other countries dislike us. for thousands of years people managed to live successfully without cars, and modern technology. in the last say 150 years we have seen more advances in technology than ever before. what did it give us? a polluted planet full of way to many people. the world really is doomed to be destroyd and fail. whether its now or 1000 years from now, or whatever. eventualy there will be a mass extinction and dyin off of species. when the planet gets too dirty , itll clean itself.
