Does Paul Decelles and Vince Dober want to send the message that even speaking of peace is offensive to those who serve in the military? They should be careful how they exploit this for political reasons.
This isn't the same as the post-Vietnam years when returning soldiers were treated horribly by "peace protesters" (and their government). Nowadays its the very people who sent them to war that treat soldiers the worst. Perhaps those Republican councilmen should be the ones offering up an apology on behalf of their party on Veterans Day. |

Not being from this area I'm not sure what the fuss was about. But having an atheist give an Easter service may just be what the churches need! Perhaps it's the same with a peace activist speaking at a veteran's day service? It may be unusual but maybe it's a view point that SHOULD be heard.
